Taste begins with vanilla then bourbon and follows with some chocolate and slight alcohol. This full bodied brew is very well balanced. Great tasting. Awesome. TheBeerOrg (1589), Kentucky, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 25, 2007 From the notch on the front label, I’m guessing that this was bottled in late 2006, from a stubby twist-off 12 oz. bottle, sampled at room temperature in a snifter.
Poured a syrupy blackish dark coffee brown with a frothy, creamy, bubbly topped brown head, good retention, small amount of laced sticking.
Big earthy expresso nose with milk chocolate, vanilla, a subtle sweet fruitiness, a pronounced green oak woodiness, and a light charcoal.
Good even moderate carbonation and a crisp, dryish, silky slick, creamy smooth, airy, full bodied mouthfeel.
A pleasant sipper, earthy expresso and coffee beans, grainy, caramel, green wood, hints of charred embers and oily smoke, vanilla, the alcohol is well masked and provides a low warmth in the palate, the hops are buried and soft, and a dry bitter coffee and licorice finish.
This is pretty good, but for the price and taste, I think I prefer the regular Breakfast Stout.

Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, sugar, coffee, some oak and moderate bourbon. Taste of bourbon, coffee, light chocolate, roasted malt and some saltiness. Smooth and finishes up a bit roasty with some bourbon and warming effects. I like it better than I did the first time, but I still prefer the original breakfast stout.
At Three Cellars tasting Founder’s Brewery night. Very dark brown with thin light brown head. Smells of bourbon & coffee. Taste of overpowering bourbon & some coffee. Kind of sticky & tastes a little too much like bourbon (yuck). Over-rated, IMO. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 14, 2008 thanks to the BA wednesday night tasting and the countless numbers of RBer’s that have sent me a bottle... black colored beer with a long lasting brown head (orange tints). it slowly disappears to a film leaving behind some spotty lace and stays there for the remainder. the aromas of fresh coffee and chocolate hit me just before a light note of bourbon and it’s woody caramel sweetness. there’s also smells of dry bitter herbs akin to licorice root skins and malt ashiness. the bourbon is so well integrated into the flavor of this. most times it ends up boozy and over powering. so, this is special... the palate is only slightly sweet and bourbon-y with the aroma played over into the flavor. chocolate, coffee and vanilla are combined with a bitterness throughout the whole experience. body is medium and the mouth feel is nothing special with the exception that it is light enough to drink an insane amount of this nectar... Big dark roasted aroma, lots of chocolate, a little Burbon and some toosstsie rolls. A slight hint of stale cigaretts or ashtrays. Flavor is big and sweet. Again lots of chocoalte. Trailer has a nice amount of bittering at the end to ballance. Palatte was smooth and heavy, but a little chalky.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Incredible pour. Used motor oil color and similar syrupy thickness is visible right off the bat. The head is minimal at best and there are a couple of patches of sediment (?) that are drifting around. Aroma is very strong of charcoal or burnt wood, with an espresso background that meshes nicely. Maybe a hint of bourbon in the background, but that’s probably more just my mind playing tricks on me. Flavor is very heavily dominated by the burnt/scorched malt. It is well done and is finished off nicely with a silky flavor like espresso with lots of sugar in it. I really wish that I had the original Breakfast stout for a side-by-side, but alas...
