This beer owns something fierce, almost but not quite equall to the legendary Canadian Breakfast Stout. Pours a viscous, oily jet black with a small, creamy tan head that leaves a ring around the glass. This has legs like a Swedish bikini model, i.e. they’re very good. Aroma is coffee, roast, chocolate, and high-quality Kentucky bourbon. Flavor is coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt that adds a little sweetness, vanilla, oak, and of course loads of bourbon. Not too much though. Almost but not quite as good as Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. A little boozy, but certainly not unpleasantly so...or maybe I was just too drunk to notice (and you can’t blame me since we had all three Breakfast Stout incarnations at this tasting + other awesome stuff). Palate is smooth, creamy, and oily with low carbonation. Overall this is a top-notch imperial stout. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Dark chocolate, fresh roast, vanilla, and bourbon in the aroma. The flavor is sweet with chocolate and vanilla on top before giving way to lovely bourbon notes and a bitter coffee finish. Very good. Earthy malt aroma, roasty barrel ash. Some whiskey. Amazingly non-interesting nose to me.
Rich roasted chocolate, oak, whiskey, very full flavor. Perhaps its the mood, but I like it but not as much as I wanted to. The interesting part is that was how I felt at the 2004 GTMW which is why I never entered that rating.

This pours as black as tar, with a dark tight head that lingers for a bit and turns into gorgeous lacing. The aroma is powerful with coffee and, what is that............. BOURBON!! Smells like my wife’s Makers Mark marinated ribs, with a touch of oak. I didn’t dare touch this until it warmed enough that no condensation remained on the glass. The first sip was just as imagined, with strong bourbon overtones, oak, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is incredibly creamy. The most I’ve ever tasted. The finish is unbelievably smooth and clean, with a touch of the smoke.. This was a real treat. I hope to find more, and soon! diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2007 Bottle at the Düsseldorf Gathering. Deep, black body. Pours like sirupe. Caramel coloured, creamy head. Very intense aroma of pure chocolate, liquor and cofee. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour. The flavour is not as complex as the aroma, but a very nice stout. I wish they’d serve this in my hotel in stead of coffee at breakfast. ilovedarkbeer (1366), Dallas, Texas, USA

Nice, motor oil pour. Jet black, with no head, just a ring around the glass that clings and laces. Aroma is coffee, then some chocolate, all with a boozy bourbony undertone. Flavor is sweet, chocolatey with lots of coffee. The bourbon is very understated and lovely, lends a nice vanilla and oak character. Absolutely loved this one.
