| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Bottle. Pours black as the pits of hell with a small creamy light-brown head. Fantastic aroma has lots of roasted coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, some oak, bourbon and more -- nice and complex. As for the flavour, oh man that’s delicious! Big flavour of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and bourbon with a lovely roasty and bitter finish with some alcohol. Nice full body and creamy mouthfeel, it goes down incredibly smooth. This is simply an out-fu@$ing-standing Imperial Stout! I need to get more! Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 16, 2006 12 oz bottle. Aroma that makes you just say Holy Crap. Big espresso and not much else really, but if you like great coffee, this is the shit. Holds a brown head nicely also. Smooth body is first thing thats noticeable. Then the bourbon taste that almost makes you forget your drinking a beer. Not bad but I wish there was just abit more espresson in the flavor. Smooth but not so creamy, if that makes any sense. Very good yeah, but give me a 750 ml Speedway for $10 instead of 12 ounces for $6. TomDecapolis (3197), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a dark brown bordering on black with some red when held to the light with a smaller dark tan lightly lacing head. Aroma of coffee grinds, vanilla, wood, lighter bourbon and some chocolate. Flavor was very smooth, well blended mix of coffee, vanilla, bourbon and a roasty malt. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2006 Bottle. Small tan head that mostly diminished, decent lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and a dark brown almost black hue. Malty, bourbon, slight chocolate note, coffee, alcohol, and wood. Flavor was coffee, roasty malt and bourbon. Slightly tingly mouthfeel and medium body. TheBeerGod (3166), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Finally got to try a bottle of this because of hopdog. Thanks Steve! Light absorbing pitch black pour. Small tan head fades to a small ring of foam very quickly. HUGE coffee nose on this accompanied with wood, soft vanilla, chocolate and burnt brownies.. Soft alcohol notes as well. Absolutely wonderful aroma! The taste is also big coffee, but this is not too bitter. Lots of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, burnt brownies and alcohol notes. Softer wood and molasses. Body is thick and sticky in spots. Light alcohol warmth. Finishes with more big coffee notes, dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and molasses. I could drink this forever.... GeneralGao (3066), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2008 12oz bottle from Iowaherkeye. Many thanks. Served at cellar temperature. Poured an opaque black color with a thick brown head that retained its height well and left some lace behind. Smelled of chocolate, coffee, and burnt stick. Not really any booze in the nose relative to the GI bourbon county stout I tried with it. Relatively dry and roasty on the tongue with some delicate sweetness at the end accompanied by a splash of alcohol. Coffee was the dominant flavor, but there was also some mellow bourbon and vanilla supporting it. Pretty good beer. WeeHeavySD (3016), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 26, 2007 12 oz bottle via trade with Brigadier, thanks Nathan. This the first brew I have consumed in my new home, the first brew consumed in a home I own, and I wanted it to be special. I really tried hard to trade for this for a while and happily Nathan came through for me. Pours a rich black with a nice dark brown head that quickly went away into a ring. The head is certainly not as pronounced or bold as the non bourbon version, but the color was similar. The aroma is rich and chocoolaty and smells a bit like chunky peanut butter. There also notes of smoke and coffee. This is a serious smell, yummy. The tastes is robust malty, smokey and strong. The vanilla, coffee, and chocolate all come through, not as chocolately as Founder’s other Breakfast Stout, but equally good. Damn this is one hell of an amazing beer, it is really spectacular. Nathan, you are the man. This is a stellar brew, thanks for not dissapointing Founders.
