Poured black as the night itself, thick and dense, with a lovely brown creamy head. Aroma is out of this world, my first ten ever. Notes of coffee, espresso, chocolate, vanilla, and just a hint of bourbon. Flavor is still a bit hot with lots of warming on the back of my throat that detracts me slightly from the awesome flavor in my mouth. If this mellows a little with age this will be the BEST BEER EVER! aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 7, 2009 # 500. 12oz bottle thanks to my guy mrchopin. Pours pitch black with creamy tan head. Aroma is bourbon, coffee, vanilla and roasted malt. Flavor is very complex with roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, molassas, smoke and a little chocolate. Mouthfeel is perfect for a BA imperial stout. Smooth and creamy but with full carbonation. Much better than the regular breakfast stout. This really a great brew and a good choice for # 500. dchmela (1452), Orlando, Florida, USA

Pours out really black, oily with no head. Aroma is chocolate malt with a healthy nose full of bourbon and oak. Very nicely balanced taste with chocolate, oak, bourbon, and vanilla all coming through. Thick, oozing and incredible. Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Thanks to STLWill for this tasty brew. Poured into a brandy snifter, 09’. The pour produces an oily impenetrable black with no head to speak of. The nose is rife with rich chocolate, light roasted coffee, burboun, vanilla, wood and minimal booze. The flavour doesn’t quite do the perfect aroma justice, but it’s enjoyable. Lots of bourbon up front, and in the finish. Loads of coffee and oatmeal flavour as well, doing well to hide the booze. The finish is rather watery compared to the massive fullness up front. As it warms, the bourbon character takes over, in a delicious, but boozier way. jarspag (600), Los Angeles, California, USA

The aroma on this one blew me away...it wreaked of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, oak, and loads of bourbon. Flavor is much of the same. This is just a great stout - big, bold flavors combine with a rich and robust nose... all this coupled with an extreme ease of drinkability, which rounds out this great concoction. So smooth and balanced to the utmost degree for such a big beer. Yum! dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 6, 2008 12 oz. bottle at Red Coat Tavern in Detroit. Pours a thick, oily black with chocolate head, diminishing to a rim. Nose is light bourbon, alcohol and roast, with lots of chocolate and a touch of oak. Taste is like coffee with chocolate and Bailey’s and bourbon. Kind of hot toddy-ish. Thick and creamy, ioly and viscous, start of bourbon and alcohol burn that mellows to a creamy khalua-esque flavor, roast and chocolate. Smooth finish. This is a tasty brew. coharahawk (87), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is loaded with oak and bourbon along with toasted malt, coffee, chocolate and some vanilla. Flavors start out milk chocolate followed by huge dose of oak and finishes with hop bitterness and alcohol. Smooth and thick mouthfeel. I was amazed to see this on tap, and it was even better than I remembered.
