Appearance: Pours like black tar with a thin, brown ring around the edge of glass.
Aroma: Dark, roasted malt, coffee, smoke, and bourbon.
Taste: Dark roasted malt, coffee, a little alcohol, raisin, light bourbon notes, and bittersweet dark chocolate.
Palate: Low carbonation with a rich mouthfeel and amazingly short finish.
Overall: The alcohol is well hidden and the bourbon blends nicely (not overpowering like some). Simply put: one of the best impys I’ve had. A must try!

This is my favorite American Imperial Stout
I located this brew in Bethlehem, PA at a local deli that specialized in predominately craft brew.
Poured Dark, thick, with little head, aromas mixing into the air as I poured it gently into my glass.
The aromas were rich in Bourban with hints of vanilla, coffee, and chocolate. Certainly a smell worthy of this stout.
Hides the alcohol very well with a warming sensation accompanied by the smooth swallowing of this excellent craft.

Sep 19, 2009 Updated: Nov 8, 2009Love it. Smells like a Hershey chocolate bar with a strong alcohol presence. The taste is bold and complex. Dark chocolate and coffee smack you in the face followed by a strong bourbon aftertaste. Its warming, delicious, and everything I want in a stout.

Mar 25, 2009 12 oz. Murky black brown pour, light does not penetrate, brown around the edges. Very limited brown head, a ring sticks around and a swirl leaves a minibubble lace around the glass.
Aroma is abundant with roasted malts, espresso, vanilla, woody tones, caramel and molasses. All this does nothing but increase as it warms.
Mouthfeel is near creamy, surprisingly a bit lively for the dissapation of the head.
Taste is everything in the nose intermingling. Great barrel and vanilla one second, dark chocolate, molasses and espresso the next. Finishes with just a hint of coffee, and molasses. There are no negatives in bitterness/sourness or anything overdone in this. As long as you are ready for what you should expect from this, there is absolutely no dissapointment.
This is the best double stout I have had sans aging flat out. There is no need to cellar this to get what you are expecting. I have several to age, but I’m guessing this will be one that does not change much from age. The Alesmith stouts are the only others I’ve had that can equal this without age.

Aug 29, 2009 Big thanks to dukefan for this one! #900 for me! Very dark brown pour. Wow. Very dark and thick. Smoky and woody. Lovely aroma. Huge tingle on the palate. Ashy finish with a heavy coffee ground taste. Very tingly. This is very well done!

Apr 20, 2009 Drink this at room temp... Pours about as nice as any stout can pour, pitch black with a wonderful head, great retention... Amazing aroma of what bourbon chocolate coffee liqueur should smell like, very creamy smell... Taste matches the aroma almost to a t, but it is not nearly as creamy as the Breakfast Stout... Dry coffee oaky body that is not overly heavy while being full bodied with an intensely full mouthfeel. the warming sensation is a bit much, but if thats the only downside...

Mar 14, 2008 I cant believe the craftmanship of this beer! It has an aroma that can only be described as coffee meets sweet chocolate meets the aroma of a freshly ground coffee beans. Its head is small and frothy, AWASOME beer, period.

Mar 30, 2009 I dont honestly feel like discribing this beer. Its very hard to type since i have had a massive (not that massive actually) erection since i poured it! However i will say that If you still think that bud light is good... DO NOT DRINK THIS BEER! you will be wasting it on yourself. It is far far far too complex for you too understand that this is not just some awesome party time, keg stand beer to drink while you and your frat bros. gang bang the cheerleader with the lowest self esteem due too her lazy eye. This is a work of brewing perfection, hand crafted to give you a source of inspiration! So high five your buddy while your balls slap together and reach in the fridge for another ice cold bud light.... you can put this one off for a while!
