Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Pours a nice dark brown with hardly any carbonation.Hints of Vanilla, coffee, chocolate and hints of oak flavoring. One of the worlds best.

12oz Bottle: Pours opaque black w/ a small, creamy dark brown head. Beautiful beer. Aroma is bourbon, coffee, chocolate, a little smoke/ash & just a touch of vanilla. Wow! Flavor is just as intense as the aroma. Huge coffee flavor w/ chocolate, oats & a nice bourbon undertone. Very robust beer, thick & creamy mouthfeel w/ a long drawn out coffee finish. Amazing beer, very hard to believe this is over 11%...I haven’t had a beer this well put together in a very long time. Bravo Founders!

Sampled at Darkness Day and this beer is incredible. Pours black with a dark tan head; good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, bourbon and maple. Flavor is bitter with sweetness. Palate is creamy and thick.

Bottle from a trade with Daknole. Viscous black pour with brown head. Aromas of burnt malts, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Lots of bourbon and it only gets stronger as it warms. Oak and vanilla flavors are also pretty strong. Full body with minimal carbonation and a slick, creamy mouthfeel. Very nice. Thanks Dak.

Tap at Sheffield’s. Jet black pour. Thin head. Bourbon and alcohol on the nose. Taste is wood, bourbon, oily smooth, killer brew.

Sampled at the ORF tasting. Thanks to whoever brought it! I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The aroma was a pleasing blend of bourbon, mocha, and vanilla. Nothing overpowering or unpleasant about it. Taste was really nice too. Had a little kick to it that I want to say was a little higher hop content than other bourbon stouts. Great brew

Thanks to mashmaster for this one. Bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass better. Deep black, small creamy head. Starts very strong and malty, notes of strong coffee. Also some liquorice. Finish a bit woody-prickly, modest alcoholic, also with notes of chocolate. A wonderfiul beer!

12oz bottle. Huge brewed coffee nose. Dark, opaque brew with hazy head. Creamy body, lots of coffee. I say italian roast and espresso, a bit burnt and aged. Huge tan legs that stain the glass. Glad I got to try this.

On draft at Monk’s. Pours jet black, small mocha head. Rich bitter chocolate and coffee aroma, vanilla and bourbon. Unfortunately, flavor is very boozy with a bit too much bourbon. I may be in the minority, but this is my least favorite of the three (Canadian, regular, then Kentucky).
