[Bottle] Pours a very dark brown color. A small amount of light brown head. Standard dark malts in the aroma. Taste is primarily dark, sweet malts. Notes of vanilla, hazelnut, bitter chocolate in there as well. Dry and burnt tasting coffee grounds in the finish. Creamy, thick, and at times oily mouthfeel. A good and balanced porter.

12oz bottle. Pours a mostly black body with a finger-width, foamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. Immediately after taking the cap off I get a rush of hard roasted malts. After pouring this into a glass, the hard roasted malts are still abundant, but well balanced with plenty of milk chocolate, medium sweet caramels, and a light coffee and vanilla. Flavor is nice as well. Smooth chocolate and lots of hard roasted, chalky malts blend with a caramel sweetness up front. The middle has a bit of lactic acidity and is somewhat fudgey with plenty of hops. Finishes sweet and hoppy with plenty of lingering coffees and hard roasted, yet sweet malts. Medium bodied, slick, and dry. Overall, a really nice porter. Lots of hard roasted flavors, but very balanced and sweet at the same time.

Bottle in motel room in middle-of-nowhere Indiana. Pours amazingly thick black with a small tan head- I had to check the bottle again to make sure this was just a porter. Nose is roasty malts, chocolate, molasses, oatmeal, and a little smoke. A little coffee in the taste. Delicious. Thick and ultra smooth- maybe the best "porter" I’ve had.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Dark brown/nearly black with a thin brown head. Mild coffe aroma, creamy, pleasant mouthfeel, tastes like chocolate coffee, smooth and drinkable. A solid porter.

Sexy indeed. Whipped dark chocolate mousse, creamy balance between light and dark chocolate. Dense and rich and heavy and how I likes it. Darkest brown, small tan head. Really wish I had more of this. The dusty baking chocolate really coats the palate for a long welcomed finish. very thick and creamy, very impressive.

Blessed be the gifter of beer for ye brings a shine to my eye, a spring to my step, and giddy glee to my life. Such was the case not too long ago with the Founders Porter. I have had another Founders brew recently, an IPA, which I rather enjoyed, so I am looking forward to testing their porter. Porters in general are a very enjoyable beer style for me; smooth, rich, creamy, ripe with chocolate, coffee, and dark fruits to name a few. What is there not to like would be the better question.

Just as I imagined, she poured thick black like an oil field rupturing into my glass with a soft, puffy tan head. Rocky and unpretentious, she fades into large clumps of creamy tan beauty while lace cracks and crackles under the assault of dark coffee beans and earthy Belgian chocolates being roasted above a fire of charcoal, wood, and smoke. Divine inspiration, if I do say so myself. But wait, there is more. plump, juicy, decadent prunes, raisins, licorice root and heavy dark breads are there to sop it all up into one gooey mess which calls me for to dive in. whoever said dark fruits are for old folks obviously didn’t know what they are missing. Not one to keep a good porter waiting, I draw deep for my first quaff and practically melt into my chair. Smooth and velvety with just a gentle whisper of fresh cream as she glides down my throat like the finest of silks. Vanilla, coconut, and soft wood ground while lemon zest tingles on top of my tongue. Melting into her creamy lactic currents are melted chocolates, prunes, raisins, and fresh espresso with the prunes and licorice root lingering longest. Finishing her palate is prune juice that quickly dries into charcoal and burnt wood. If that wasn’t enough, long into her finish, chocolate blossoms exponentially, permeating my breath. Wow and Yum. Enough note taking; time to close my eyes as I savor the last few quaffs of my Founders Porter.

Chocolate may be the quickest way to some ladies hearts, but not mine. I’ll take a Founders Porter any day, thank you very much. A solid porter and an easy recommend on my part. Many thanks to my blessed gifter of this fine brew, indeed.

12oz bottle into a pint glass Smooth and sweet with slight creaminess and touches of chocolate and coffee. A solid porter that is almost a stout in some respects.
