Bottle sent as a trade extra via pantanap. Thanks Kan! Pitch black color that yields a temporary mocha brown head that dissipates to a still surface. Low carbonation. Looks more like an Imperial Stout; I like that! Big roasted malt and dark chocolate nose with some medium-strength coffee. Flavor is quite roasty, with more smooth chocolate and coffee flavors. Some sweet dark fruit mixed in there too. Finishes with a touch of sourness with a dry palate. Very tasty!

12 oz. Pitch black with a small head that quickly disappears. Aromas of espresso and dark chocolate, maybe some cream. Flavor is a nice blend of milk chocolate, espresso, charred wood and ash. Medium body is drinkably watery and roasty dry, but a little too fizzy with carbonation.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. This porter pours a beautiful black with a nice brown head. as the head sat it left nice webbing on the glass. I gathered subtle aromas of nuts, chocolate, malts, and acidity. The flavor was much of the same with the acid a bit more prevelant. This is very tasty stuff. Founders is kicking ass!

Very dark pour with a half inch rosie brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma consists of several elements both sweet and bitter. Some chocolate nuttiness along with some hops and burnt malt. Very silky body. The hops come out in the finish but don’t leave any bitterness after they’re first noticed. Rich chocolate notes through out but they’re not overwhelming. Nice aroma and great body but the flavor does not seem to be all that it could be.

This is a very dark porter. There’s a definite American hop note but it’s kind of buried in the licorice coffee, chocolate and toast of the malt. A bit on the thick side. I’m really surprised that they called this a porter. This is very stout like and robust at that.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Pours black and opaque with a nice, light brown head. Distinct coffee aroma. Medium body with hard roasted malts and vanilla and again these very strong coffee notes. Dry and lightly malt bitter finish. 010209

12-oz. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! Ebony/black with thin brown film atop. Huge chocolatey coffee nose. Creamy medium body. Plenty of roasty coffee up forward, supplemented by hints of chocolate and a bit of dark tree fruit. Nicely balanced bitter hop at the finish. Dark, rich, and sexy, indeed. This is an awesome, awesome porter.

absolute black pour with a small dark tan head. very light aroma of roasted malts.....and that about it. but the falvor is HUGE! Roasted malts, coffee, caramel and bitter chocolate. It is very thick on the mouth feel, the flavor is much of the same of the aroma. This shit is awesome. enjoy the complexity. It sits sooooo well. The lacing is decent too. one of the best.
