Commercial Description:
Dark, Rich, and Sexy. Chocolate malts and four varieties of hops make this a very full flavored ale.

Bottle thanks to mreusch, thanks Matt. Poured a deep brown color with a half-inch dark beige head that faded to a light film and ring that left a little lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts with some hints of coffee, a bit of charred oak, and some light earthy hoppiness. Lightly prickly, semi-sweet entry with some dark chocolate, a hint of light roast, and a bit of lingering smoke complimented by a relatively moderate earthy hoppiness that finishes with some dryness. Low carbonation, somewhat thin mouthfeel. Overall, it is a solid porter with a nice nose, but it didn’t strike me as having any over-whelming qualities.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha micro head recedes to coat surface leaving spot lacing. Charred espresso and dark chocolate aromas. Tingling smoked malts upfront with a lasting bitter chocolate and hopped mocha finish.

Bottle kindly shared by theisti. Pours black with a thin tan head and patchy lace. The nose is a thing of beauty and sadly overshadows the flavor for me: milk chocolate and round dark roasted malt; much like a roasty chocolate malted milk shake. Light-bodied and slick with an almost astringent, mildly bitter finish. Roasted malt, cocoa and an interesting, bitter hodgepodge of hop notes. While the flavor falls short of the aroma, this is a fine porter and one that I can easily recommend. Thanks for sharing it with me Tim!

12oz brown stubby purchased from Oade’s Big Ten. Pours an oily, completely opaque black. Hints of scarlet show themselves as well. Very little head after the pour. Lacing is almost non-existent. Aroma is rich in malt, with hints of molasses and a nose that reminds me of chilled chocolate milk. This porter starts off thin, but gathers up a nice mid-mouth feel. with roasted malt and a hint of grahm cracker. Finishes with a dryish hop bitter. Not too much bitter though. Rather, just enough to round out this fine beer. Overall, this is a great porter. Old school with its bombardment of malt, yet the uncharacteristic subtle hop finish leaves the drinker classically refreshed.

Bottle courtesy of fiver29. Pours a pitch black with red highlights and the bottom and a half finger brown head that faded into a ring almost immediately. The nose is roasty, smoky chocolatey coffee – really great aroma. The taste is not as good as the nose, but still nice. Milk chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa and charcoal with a bitter hoppy coffee finish. Medium mouth feel. Very good porter – thanks John!

12oz bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours dark brown nearly black with dark tan head. Aroma is heavy with roasted malt and coffee with dark chocolate and dark fruits. Flavor is full with roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. Nice mouthfeel. Finishes bitter. Nice Porter.

Black with big, creamy brown head / Rich roast tobacco nose / Medium body, vinuous, a touch thin but some chewiness, with good balance and finish / Flavors of roast coffee, tobacco, unsweetened chocolate, and plums / Thin body only flaw.

Darker brown color with a medium tan head. Aroma is big and roasty with a heavy dose of coffee, dark chocolate, and even wood. Flavor is big on the roast with dark chocolates, dark coffee, and even some vinous fruit. Finishes very nice and has a mild hoppiness at the end. Very nice mouthfeel. For a standard porter, this is nothing short of incredible.
