On tap. Very black with tan head. Taste of roasted malts and coffee very well blended together. Bitter as well, but not too much.

Excellent porter! Duh...it’s rated tops in category for a reason. Reminds me the equally formidable Bell’s porter. Can’t ask much more than what Founders is delivering here.

Outstanding Porter. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and sterile metal. Flavor is a big hit of very bitter dark chocolate with some cola taste. The only thing better than its flavor is the synchronization of aroma, flavor, and feel...together. Wow.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark viscous black with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is an excellent blend of roasted malts and chocolate with a light smokiness and some burnt toast and rich and sharp dark malt crispness. Flavor has a robust chocolate and creamy burnt sugar character and coffee bitterness. Nice bitter finish but not astringent or harsh, just pleasant and much like the bitterness in dark chocolate. Medium full body and a soft carbonation. Excellent porter.

12 oz bottle.Pours dark oily black with a mountain of tan head that is built to last. Nose is all roasted malts and brown sugar. Flavor is dark, rich, and smooth - chocolate and smoke, with just a touch of cinnamon lightening at the end. Really interesting spriteliness to this porter, balancing the bitterness until the finish. Nice job Founders

12oz bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. black pour with a finger sturdy looking tan head that disappears quicker than I would’ve expected. soft but strong aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and some earthy spiced hops. taste is fairly sharp candy sweetness backed up by a chalky bitterness. the caramel, coffee, roastiness comes through in the finish. nothing over the top here - just an all around great porter.

Pours dark and oily. Big smells of roasted malts, bitter chocolate and sugar. Taste is smokey, smooth, thick and so good. Not a real porter guy but this changed my mind. Nice job.

This is about as good as it gets. Rich, Dark, malty with a chewiness that really is in the mix with some of the best robust porters on the market. The chocolatiness slightly overpowers the grainy burntess, and the aggressive bitterness is on the back end. Just a top notch beer.
