Bottle. Aroma of lightly roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, gorgeous earth and nuts, perfection. Flavor really emphasizes the nice earth and nuts character while the coffee remains and the chocolate becomes more subtle but contributes nicely in the finish. Great aroma and flavor profile. Very drinkable on the palate, just left me a TOUCH wanting in terms of body by the end of the glass. In any case, great brew.

Bottle (I didn’t realize this was re-released by Founders and thought I had stumbled upon a rare bottle...exciting nonetheless!) Pours black with a very small dark tan head that fades rapidly. Aroma of luscious coffee, roasted malt, and roasted nuts. Flavor is pretty much the same with lots of coffee, some bitter chocolate, and rich malt. Amazing mouthfeel. Full, yet completely drinkable. Definitely the best porter I’ve had to date. This is a luscious beer. Wow. I knew that it would be good but I didn’t think it would be this good. 9/4/9/5/18 (4.5/5)

This poured black in color with a moderate brown head of larger bubbles. The nose showed off cocoa, coffee, roasted malt and fresh herbs (rosemary). In the mouth it was medium-bodied but concentrated with nice richness balanced by fresh carbonation.

Pours a nice deep black with a medium creamy dark tan head that left tons of lacing. Aroma of mlik chocolate, caramel, toffee, nuts, dark fruits, cinnamon, light campfire smoke, vanilla and roasted malt. Wonderful porter aroma...one of the best! Flavor of roasted malt, dark bitter chocolate, coffee, caramel, nuts a touch of vanilla and light smokey notes. Moderate hop bitterness. Really great beer!

Finally a beer that lives up to its hype, and possibly the best porter i’ve had. Dark brown pour with chestnut colored head and spotty lace. Roasty aroma. Medium bodied with a creamy mouth-feel. Complex robust flavor; heavy roast (almost smokey), and coffee upfront. Finish is: hops, and chocolate milk (late)

Wow this is a great beer probably my second favorite porter next to the Olfabrikken. Its all here the smoothness ,chocolate, malt balance. This is a great beer and I highly recommend picking it up if you get the chance. I had this on draft at the pud in Grand Rapids and was not too impressed but picked up a 6 pack over New Years and was a totally different experience. Creamy and chocolate about reminds me of a good stout but not as over the top.I must admit this is right up at the top and just about half a notch below an Olfabrikken. HIGHLY RECOMMEND..

Poured an opaque black color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, wet roasted grains, smoke, and dark fruits. Taste of roast, dried fruits, smoke, char, cocoa, and a sweet chocolate finish.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a hazy tan head. Nose is coffee, smoke, peanuts and prunes. Tingly medium body, a bit chalky. Taste is dark roast, mocha and anise. Hints of figs and grapefruit. Dry, cocoa powder finish. Assertive, balanced and drinkable. Very good, nice seeing this finally back.
