Pours a thick black with a medium brown head. Medium body with low carbonation levels. Roasty chocolate aroma with hints of smoke and vanilla. Flavor is very roasty with prominant chocolate flavors and hints of malts, coffee, caramel, and nuts. Good bite on the finish. Probably my favorite stout.

pours thick black very little brown head. Aroma is coffee, smoke and malt. Flavor is a hard bit of coffee and ashes, some vanilla and chocolate. Lots of flavor. A bit bitter for a porter. You can tell it’s an American porter. Strong thick and a little over the top. Still an OK beer.

12oz bottle from VBM. Pours an opaque black body, kinda like flat cola, with a very thin brown head. Great aroma of milk chocolate, mocha, vanilla with some light smokey notes. Nice roasted coffee and chocolate. Decent sweetness. Medium to thin, slightly tingly mouthfeel. Good porter, just not as great as expected.

My new benchmark porter. Dark and tasty: coffee, dark chocolate, very rich but not overwhelming. More flavor and more bite than mainstream stouts. A great winter beer for when not feeling up to an Imperial Stout.

Bottle. Poured a jet black with a two finger creamy tan head. Aroma was coffee, roasted malts, sweet malts, and dark chocolate. Flavor was burnt coffee, chocolate. Very rich and great. This is a very robust porter. Give me one of these any day!
