| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a deep brown color with a sizable tan to light brown head. The nose gives strong hints of roasted malt, with a nod especially to what seems to be a relatively low lovibond chocolate malt. The palate is distinctly roasted and malty up front, showing dark chocolate notes. The mid-palate shows a nice west coast hop presence. It stops short of having the assertive character of an American stout, but is far more than what would be seen in a standard English robust porter. One thing that could further improve what is a fairly complex palate would be the increased use of mid-range crystal malts. Overall, not life-changing, but nicely done. brewski519 (438), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA

Aroma of dark roasted coffee, chocolate, and malt. Delicious taste of chocolate malt and roasted coffee along with some nuttiness and a nice creamy mouthfeel. These guys don’t put out a bad beer for sure - PERFECT way to end a Monday... or any day for that matter. fata2683 (932), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2009 bottle, pours black with a medium light brown head. Roasty milk chocolate aroma. Bitter dark malts, bakers chocolate and some hop bitterness mix for an excellent porter with just the right amount of subtle carbonation. I like it. MaltOMeal (668), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA

Roasty chocolate aroma with hints of smoke and vanilla. Flavor is very roasty with prominant chocolate flavors and hints of malts, coffee, caramel, and nuts. Good bite on the finish. Probably my favorite stout. Snot19kilo (81), Oakwood, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2009 pours thick black very little brown head.
Aroma is coffee, smoke and malt.
Flavor is a hard bit of coffee and ashes, some vanilla and chocolate. Lots of flavor.
A bit bitter for a porter. You can tell it’s an American porter. Strong thick and a little over the top. Still an OK beer.
