Aroma of hops, grapefruits, sweet caramel maltiness. Flavour of rye and hoppyness, resins and malt sweetness abound. Tastes like a belgian/American strong ale hybrid. This beer is good, drink it now! durhambeer (1200), Durham, USA

Crisp, hoppy sweet nose with solid rye malt aroma. Very fresh and fun, and more hoppy than many rye ales. Nice bubbly head atop a copper body. Grass, grains, and citrus. Crisp bitter finish. Lovely. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2008 Bottle courtesy of kmeves. Pours a cloudy amber with huge 4 finger billowy beige head that lasts forever. That persistent head leaves a nice delicate lacing. Nose is floral and citrus hops and caramel malt. Taste is caramel malt upfront with citrus hops and a touch of rye flavor followed by some resin in the finish. Medium, dry mouth feel. Decent stuff. Thanks Kevin! demdeac40 (240), Etowah, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 8, 2008 Pours a deep dark cloudy copper coler with small tan head that hangs around for a little while. The nose is sweet citrus and floral with a subtle hint of pine. Big bitter hit mid palate and finishes clean and smooth. Really gets better as time goes on. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Pours deep red orange, not much of any head save for a bit of lacing. I really agree with previous rater...lots of pineapple hops in nose and flavor. An interesting sweet/bitter contrast. Very distinct rye astringency in aftertaste. Quite similar to an American pale ale, except for the rye bite. Bitterness takes over as session continues. Would be an amazing beer if there was more balance. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 6, 2008 Pours a deep cloudy amber brown color with an off-white frothy head. Aroma is very sweet and hoppy, with some strong citrus and pineapple notes. Flavor starts out sweet and malty with a lot of the pineapple and citrus coming through. It quickly gets bittered by the strong piney hops that appear and all but consume the sweetness. The hops ride through the finish and leave a pleasant bittersweet aftertaste. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Really good rye beer and ipa. timsilvia32 (446), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Red amber pour, cream colored head. Aroma has some grainy cereal, lemongrass, sweet malt. Rather crisp with flavors similar to what the nose suggests. All present in good balance. Some caramel covered light red fruits. Very clean finishing, very good. Would really like to try the Black.
