Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Delicious is the best way to describe it. Pour was a cloudy amber with a cute little one finger off white head. Aroma of pine and hops. Taste is a perfect balance of spice, malt and hops. The hops come out mostly in the aftertaste. How Founders gets those 3 to play nicely in the bottle and not dominate one another is why they are a great brewery!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy ruby color with some floaties. The decent size beige head is mostly lasting. Aroma is caramel with pine and citrus hops. Flavor begins with sweet malts but finishes with a well balanced bitterness from the pine/citrus hops. medium bodied. The finish is rather dry. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Draft at the Brew Kettle in Cleveland on 7/3/07. Clear copper body under a frothy off white head with good retention and lace. Aroama is spicy, citrusy, and floral over a backdrop of caramel. Medium body and a certain degree of oily resin on the palate. A long and dry finish started off by a spicy bitterness follows and early malty sweetness.

12 oz. bottle Gregis brought back for me from Corral in IL. Pour is red with soft orange highlights. Nice, fluffy tan head. Aroma is the rye, hay and some earthy hops. Taste is primarily dry slightly sweet malt and a nice sharp rye bite. Nice bitter hop finish.

Bottle. Pours a brownish-crimson and an off-white head that does not easily dissipate. Aroma is strongly of spices and hops. Flavor contains some fruity notes with an aftertaste dominated by the rye and some citrus. Good beer, smooth beer, and overall very solid.

Bottle from Eithcubes - Thanks! Pours a hazy deep amber with a large, creamy beige head. Thick lacing. Aromatic of citrus and pine, some maltiness present. Taste is deep and resinlike, mostly piney hops with a dry citrus tail. Doesn’t have the sweet malt backbone like IPA’s with this type of hops presence. A little caramel malt is detectable. Very pleasant and easily drinkable.
