Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

12 oz bottle at Caliente in Richmond. Nice reddish color. Strong hop presence and a crisp and spicy rye finish.

Tried it, but can’t say I enjoyed it. I did finish it, but only because it was interesting in flavor. The flavor starts very sweet, and finished with a combination of Rye flavor, and strong bitterness. For me the finishing bitterness is overwhelming to the palette.

Bottle thanks to krypitc. Pours a very bright copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is overwhelmingly citrus hops, just loads of fresh grapefruits. Oranges and rye grains a noticed as well. The flavor is similarly dominated by loads of grapefruit hops, the rye does stand out and add a nice spicy fixture. Sweet caramel and light bitter hops finish it out. Very drinkable and tasty. I’m becoming addicted to Rye beer.

(Draught) pours a beautiful amber with nice fluffy head that never goes away. Nose of piney hops, rye, and grapefruit. Taste follows with tons of sweet/bitter grapefruit hops that’s pretty hoppy up front. Way more than expected for a PA. Nice and creamy, palette linger is bitter but in a good way. Great body and carbonation. Very solid overall.

Pours copper with off white head. Good aroma of citrus and rye. Rye sweetness balances the juicy citrus hop flavor. Enjoyable and very easy to drink.

Bottled sample shared with oakbluff. Amber in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of citrus fruit, apricot, and spicy rye malts. More citrus and spicy rye in the mouth, along with notes of caramel and a unique soapy note that added a nice level of complexity. Medium bodied and very drinkable. I’ll be seeking out more of this beer for sure.

Poured a vibrant copper color with a thick, off-white head and good lacing. The aroma was a nice blend of citrus, sweet malts and spicy rye. The flavor is of a nice pale ale with spicy rye. It had fruity, citrus hops, sweet malts and nice spice all well represented. Nice mouthfeel, effortless to drink.

I was really digging the whole package with this beer. Truly a delight to consume and sooo easy to enjoy. Founders is always suprising me with beers that I don’t know much about (since in California) so it’s like a little suprise each time I have a Founders I haven’t had.

The beer pours a dark garnet hue in my glass with a 1" off-white head. Tons of rye bread notes in the aroma with a heaping dose of fruity hops. Caramel malt also asserts itself in the nose. The rye sweetness is carried on in the flavor of the beer and it’s balanced nicely with the even-handed bittering hops. Also the toasted malt angle was really something I could dig into. Very nice.
