Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottle courtesy of Tpaliga. Poured a cloudy deep brown color ale with a huge slightly off-0white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of bitter hops is quite overpowering with some malt being noticeable. Taste is a mix between some caramel malt with some overpowering bitter and citrus hops. Rye is present though not overly noticeable. Body is above average with some low filtration, which is appreciated. While I did appreciated this beer I would have prefer less hops and a bit more rye.

Pours a very unique, cloudy cranberry-crimson red color. A dense layer of spongy, cream colored foam crowns the top. Ribbony sheets of lacing circle the glass, coating it well. Background notes of malty, burnt caramel balance out substantial floral and earthy hops. Rye imparts its signature dry sharpness, which works very well over the subtle sweet caramel malt. Dried apricot adds a fruity element, completing the aroma. Flavors are similar, though more intense. The rye really emerges, combining with the floral hops to impart a dry bitterness that lingers on the back of the tongue. The balance is wonderful. Medium bodied and smooth, this one really satisfies on all levels. This is a very enjoyable, unique brew.

Pour is hazed reddish amber with a thin almost non existant head...smell is very hoppy...grapefruit and pine...wow...this taste great!!! Lightly malty up front, but turning to a nice chewy bitterness...not just something watery on the sides of my tongue, but all over it and what phenomenal body!!!

pours a gorgeous mahogany color with a two finger off white head. Dangerously quaffable, this brew has a good balance between bitter and maltiness. Thx santa

Had this on draught at the "Founders at Dilly Deli" night on 9/21/2006... Beautiful ruby color with a nice beige head and moderate carbonation. Aroma is mostly caramel and toffee along with citrus and pine hops. Flavor is intially sweet and much like the aroma and finishes a little dry with a wonderful rye and pine/grapefruit hoppiness. Moderate bitterness and medium body It’s really well balanced between the slightly sweet caramel and toffee malt and the dry rye and hoppy bitterness (almost zesty in a way) that dances on your tongue at the end tapping out Morse code to your brain to keep drinking more! This is an excellent ale and a really great beer to drink! This is one that is really difficult to stop drinking once you start. 16 oz draught (6.4% alchohol), $4.00 from Dilly Deli.
