Flavor, lots of citrus, caramel, and some really nice bitterness to it. I love these hoppy rye beers, and this is no exception. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 8, 2007 A deep amber pour with a large off white head that breaks down pretty quickly. An aroma that says hops clearly with a hint of spices. A flavor that rolls with a hop bitter from the start with just a tad of malty sweetness sliding in as well. A very nice hoppy bitter finsih that really sets this beer off. A palate that is smooth and soft but not fizzy. Overall a very good beer. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2005 Cloudy red color, small off white head that left a decent lace behind.Hoppy grapefruit aroma with a hint of malt in the background.Nice malty hop flavor with a decent grapefruit side but there is no real harsh bitterness like you might think you’d get from so much hop flavor. It actually is quite mild in the hop bite and fairly smooth.I have to say i like it alot it’s not over powering at all and quite smooth and easy to drink which is what i like in a brew with all these hops.More then worth while having a few more of these around for later. Pours a medium golden amber with a nice 2 finger thick off white head, spotty lacing. Fairly hoppy nose with hints of floral and citrus hops with a sweet caramel background. In the finish you get a good dose of caramel then turns to hop bitterness, good stuff.
