Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Courtesy of cigarcitybrew. Updated rating. Pours orange brown, beige head. Aroma is yeasty with good fruit notes - grapefruit.. Taste, lots of rye, floral hops and nice caramel malts.Rye giving a thick mouthfeel. Light and easy to drink.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of Secret Santa. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a moderate off-white head that lasted until the end and left partial lacing on the glass. Very nice juicy aroma of oranges and grapefruit. Interestingly, there is very little citrus in the flavor. Instead, the flavor is malt up front followed by pine and some spice. Then, some rye flavor sneaks in towards the finish. Moderate bitterness at the finish as well. Thank you Santa!

Deep copper color with a tan head and lingering brussels lace. Strong but nice floral smell. Flavor of rye and hops.

a deep red color w/ a big off white head.. A big grass hop and molasis aroma. The palate was rich and mildly creamy. Flavor was citrus and carmel a hint of alcohol in the finish as it warmed and a touch of something fruity. Overall a very well done beer.

Cloudy red color,small off white head that left a decent lace behind.Hoppy grapefruit aroma with a hint of malt in the background.Nice malty hop flavor with a decent grapefruit side but there is no real harsh bitterness like you might think you’d get from so much hop flavor.It actually is quite mild in the hop bite and fairly smooth.I have to say i like it alot it’s not over powering at all and quite smooth and easy to drink which is what i like in a brew with all these hops.More then worth while having a few more of these around for later.

bottle-HUGE thanks to jtw for sending this MI gem my way. Pours a clear dark orange hue with vigerous carbonation. a nice 1/2 inch off-white head topped the beer that was smooth and soft looking. Aroma of citric hops, flowery, sweet and nice grapefruit notes. The flavors mimic a dreadnaught light (similar hop bill it tastes like). Flavors of citric hops, biscuity toasted malts, with a touch of rye in the finish that is ever so slight. The palate is well rounded, excentuating the citric hops with undertones of pine and grapefruit with a good malt bill to back them up. great balance and complexity. the hops are present across the entire palate. This beer has sheets of lacing! truely amazing apearance in my snifter. Resiny finish (piney hops-chinnok/cascade?). I can see this being a very delicate beer that need to be sampled as fresh as possible. Another winner from founders and MI. You MI people are so damn lucky.....a kick ass beer!

Dark hazy coppery reddish, thick off white creamy head. A tight and complex nose of grapefruit, pine, rye, and sweet toffee, with lesser notes of apricot and white pepper. The flavor is similar to aroma with very dry citrus and rye notes dominating up front with only a tiny hint of sweet malt in the background. Not too much balance here, but really it’s not necessary for this style. Hopheads will love this! Medium bodied, zesty carbonation, ultra dry, bitter rye finish. I could drink a lot of this in one sitting. Another great one from these guys...

12 oz bottle thanks to Santa. Deep Amber with little head. Very hoppy aroma. Citrusy and fruity. Some caramelly maltiness too. Flavors Were not as fruity. Grassy hops, with a much deepter malt profile. Rye flavor was more evident than in other rye beers I have had. Pretty decent.
