Aroma is sweet & hoppy - bread, honey, and citrus-floral hops detectable. Flavor is well balanced between rye and sweet, bready malts and some nice citrusy hop tastes. Smooth and refreshing with a nice hop blast. Reminds me of a good English IPA or a sweet ASA. Good brew. hayduke (1654), Eureka, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 13, 2009 12 oz. from Bruisin’. Pours copper with a small white head. The nose is very hoppy and citrus leaning. Tons of rye is also apparent. This is pretty much just bread and citrus. Taking a sip allows the flavor to follow suit appropriately. It is dry, bitter, floral, and citrusy. Hints are made at biscuits, rye, pine, and grapefruit. This is very well done with a very distinct focus on rye. GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 10, 2009 I was really digging the whole package with this beer. Truly a delight to consume and sooo easy to enjoy. Founders is always suprising me with beers that I don’t know much about (since in California) so it’s like a little suprise each time I have a Founders I haven’t had.
The beer pours a dark garnet hue in my glass with a 1" off-white head. Tons of rye bread notes in the aroma with a heaping dose of fruity hops. Caramel malt also asserts itself in the nose. The rye sweetness is carried on in the flavor of the beer and it’s balanced nicely with the even-handed bittering hops. Also the toasted malt angle was really something I could dig into. Very nice.
