Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Pours dark amber with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of fruity hops and toffee, toasted malt. Taste is citric hops, grapefruit, and some spicy dryness. Mouthfeel is full bodied with moderate resins. Pretty tasty stuff.

A great, warming brew. Quite hoppy, that suprised me with this one. Maltiness is there too, drank very easy for the alc content. Solid brew. Thanks to secret santa for this brew!

At Three Cellars tasting Founder’s Brewery night. Clear amber with a medium white head. Notes of heavy rye and pine in the aroma. Rye in the taste, dry hoppy finish, light astringent qualities.

bottle from hopdog...thanks!...pours a hazy cherry wood color with a fluffy khaki head and lots of floaters. aroma of ripe fruit, caramel, malt, citrus and piney hops...perhaps the rye? flavor is robust caramel/brown sugar, wood and citrus hop. not overly sweet. nice crisp dry finish with the rye flavor lingering in the aftertaste for a while. rich medium mouth feel with pleasant carbonation and acidity.

Bottle Pours a slightly hazy dark redish copper color witha thin but lasting off white head. Chunky sticky lacing. Rather sweet fruity aroma like the fruit cocktail I remember at school luches as a kid. But with a nice hoppy slant as well. Flavor is more of a woody bitter hops and the ABV is noticeable as well. Dry hopping really brings it to the front. Pretty strong. Thanks to Ohiodad for this one

Beautiful brownish copper color with substantial frothy tanish head. Aromas are sweet and floral with a bit of sharp hops. Flavor is well balanced, mixing back and forth between sweet caramel flavors and crisp floral hops. Excellent brew again from Founders.

Dark in color with an off white head. Nice poured beer. Aroma of hops and bread. Taste is sweet with some hops and a little pepper and rye spice aspect. Nice body. Very balanced and good and clean.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown/amber with hardly any head. Aroma of piney and floral hops. Flavor is fairly hoppy and quite bitter. Some sweet malt (sort of a raisin taste) comes out as the beer warms. Didn’t really get any rye. I expected this to be a little maltier actually. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and heavy. This beer reminds me of SN Celebration Ale. Interesting beer. I’d probably have this again, but I’m not in any rush. Update 2/17/09: HUGE head in this one. Flavor of sweet malt and lots of rye grains. Flavor is sweet and quite grainy initially with some rye in the finish. Some light fruits (strawberry maybe). Palate is a little weak though. Still not digging this one. I’m keeping my original score.
