| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 24, 2007 Bottle. Clear copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is a nice balanced hop and malt mix, with the hop aroma being floral and not overpowering. Creamy, medium-bodied mouthfeel. Biscuity malt start with a moderate hop finish. Very enjoyable to drink, I really like beers that incorporate rye. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Pours clear red with lots of floating particles and a thick, dense off-white head. Aroma of floral, citric pacific NW hops and rye. Flavor is very bitter but in the most pleasant way. Has notes of grapefruit/citrus, pine, resin, caramel, toasted malt, perhaps some munich malt and pepper. Lingering bitter finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Great stuff. 17thfloor (1507), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Updated: Mar 22, 2008[Re-rate 3/22/08] Gorgeous brownish red pour, some small bubbles, and the largest creamiest beige fluffy head ever (bigger and thicker than most rootbeer floats - 54F). Lots of yeast settles at the bottom once the head dissipates. Very pungent malted rye aroma, slightly vinous and sweet with a touch of hops. Palate is great for the amount of malts, not overly sticky and the carbonation isnt annoying, however its a little thin. Slightly vinous from the rye with some great crisp bitter hops. Lots of yeast in the finish. The malted rye really adds a mellowing characteristic, that is no-doubt more noticeable from the past 5 months of aging. I don’t know if its better now, but it is quite different. Probably oxidized a bit, which isn’t really a bad thing with this rye beer... especially if you like rye whiskey. dmac (1503), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a brownish red with a fizzy average siz white head, almost a five for appearance but the head was a little to fizzy. Aroma on this is awesome with nice notes of malt hops and rye. Flavor is solid with an initial malty flavor followed by a slight bite, maybe the rye, then some good hop bitterness. This is a good beer wish it was available in my area. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
