Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Dirty bloody mary. Thin off-white fizzy head. West coast hop aroma with fruity tomatoes. Taste has a hoppy and rye-like fleshy orange and fleshy concord grape predominance. Late finish has concord grape skins. Good stuff.

cloudy, deep amber/brownish color, beige head. aroma is fairly strong on the lemony hops and is quite tart/tangy. flavor is initially quite lemony and floral with a bit of a numbing alcohol feel on the tongue. there is a slight herbal chocolatiness in the finish and aftertaste. the hop profile reminds me a little of Bell’s Two-Hearted.

bottle...rating from memory... appearance: dark orange and red with tannish head....aroma: light on the hops and not too assertive.... taste: starts out with some mild, bitter hops then makes way for some of the malts to make their way into the mix. in the end, it’s rye and dry.....decent beer and another nice offering from frounders.

Pours an orange redish color with a big creamy heady. Nose is incredible with hops oils and dare I say marijuana? Taste is bitter and a bit caramel. Good beer fizzy mouth feel and goes down easy. Good job founders.

Poured Red with a huge foamy tan head. Nose had lemon, strawberry and malts. As I warmed this in my hands, I also got notes of spruce. There be hops in here. The taste is very well balanced. I tasted lemon-grapefruit hops. Smothered over a malty-bread backbone. This goes down smooth, Ha! Crisp clean dry finish. Wow, this is a really well made brew. It was gone before I even noticed. Thanks to OHIODAD.

Deep ruby brown, small dense layer of light tan head. Dark carmel aroma with bright, lively citrus hops. A little toasty/buttery. Chewy orange rind bitterness, nicely balanced with a smooth sweet maltiness. More hops (a lot more) than I anticipated, but the balance still comes off nicely. The orange rind gives it an almost astringent quality to the palate, but in this case, I’d say it was a contribution, not a fault. This is odd classed as an American Strong Ale. Not really that strong. But I did enjoy it. And I can’t really think of another catagory that fits it better.

Pours a slightly hazy red/orange, with off-white head. Hops, caramel and rye in the aroma. Flavor is similar but with biscuit, honey, some sweet malt, and pine. Good beer, kinda like a dark rye IPA.

(12 oz bottle) deep copper with light copper head, nice lace. Lovely spicy hops aroma with some malt. Flavor is malt, rye, and a strong hop backbone. I’d love to try this one on cask.
