Aroma is pine and citrus hops with balancing caramel. Taste was spicy and flowery, raspberry cobbler, caramel and biscuit sweetness. Crisp with a dry finish. A great beer. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada

Pours a shimmering amber- red hazy ale in the glass...1finger beige cap lasts and laces.
Nose is spicy (from the rye and hops) over some toffee tones...very interesting.
Spicey-bready tones, some sweetness, fruit notes, ...finishes up drt and very spicy-hoppy.
Great unique beer....first class!

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2009 Bottle, courtesy someone. Candy apple red pour, thick creamy white head, tons of wet sheets of lacing. Big tropical fruits in the nose, some rye and chocolate, biscuit. Pleasant but subdued. Spicy rye flavors, dry biscuit and grain, hops present throughout, some caramel in the finish, and a tad bit metallic. Medium-bodied, carbonated well, drinkable but slightly inhibited by the rye. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Rich beautiful thick caramel color, with a tan foamy head. Great sweet hoppy aroma - similar to apricots and honey (but I want more of it - a bit muted). Great taste! Nice hints of caramel complementing the hops well in the flavor. A bit drying in the finish but overall a great beer. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Poured a nice orange red color. Aroma was much like the dogfish head 60min carmel malts and pine hop. Flavor was much the same, except the rye was there after you finished your sip. Not a bad beer."

Pleasant enough aroma. A bit crisp, malt and minerals. Flavor has hops (pine and bitter spice) and lots of minerals right at the start. Some sweet malt and what I assume to be rye flavors in the background. Also some crispness, which I tend to associate with rye. Sharp bitterness throughout but it’s held up adequately by the malt/rye. Odd body. Some mix between watery, crisp and hop dryness. Overall not too bad. A bit too much harsh bitterness though. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Rated 12/31/06: Hopped like an APA with an incredible dryness, one fine brew. Hoppy aroma half pine, half grapefruit and citrus. Nice amber pour huge off white head that stays around 1/2" in thickness, lots of web-like lacing. Dry finish, very full and satisfying on the palate. Good all around flavor lots of malts, the strength of the hops seems to mask the flavor of the rye at first but eventually the rye is detected. Real good malt presence, great beer. roder60 (1039), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Pours a clear amber copper color with medium amount of frothy offwhite head. Aroma is a lot of floral hoppiness mixed with a very sweet caramel base. Flavor starts with a slight sticky toffeeish sweetness then drastically shifts into a huge amount of tart bitter citrus hops and a slightly mellowing rye sweet but bitter finish. Finishing dry, but very enjoyable.
