Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

My god, this is good. So crisp and refreshing, but packed with flavor. The rye makes it bite just enough. I want a keg of this. TIED WITH ZARTAN

Bottle rating. Thanks Islay for picking this up while in Wisc. Nice grapefruit citrus nose going on here. Flavor is kind of bready with a slight bitter finish. Also some rye flavor in the finish. The flavors all seem to meld together well here. Very enjoyable and simple almost session like qualities, although now I see it’s just under 7%. Well, the alcohol is well hidden so it tastes like a session anyway.

Pours a translucent, nearly opaque, cloudy, ruby red with a thin slightly off white head. Aroma is very spicy, malty, grainy and slightly citrus with a sort of sweet and sour thing going on. Flavor is very grainy and chewy, with some mild sweetness, plenty of spice, some citrus. Heavy mouthfeel but smooth and crisp on the palate.

A nice looking orange-red color with citrus(grapefruit) hops all over it. The rye adds a new dimension, one that I like, hence the extra overall point. Nice to drink 3 or 4 or 5 of them!

I don’t usually buy multi-packs of craft beer...usually I buy single-serve bottles, or I buy at stores where I can mix-and-match my own six-packs. That said, I’m on my third six pack of Red Rye in the past few months. I had the good fortune to attend GABF this year, and spent a lot of time unsuccessfully searching for rye beers that are its equal (Hebew Rye PA is also very good). Great Lakes Nosferatu is also reminiscent of this beer, but I like Red Rye better. Appearance is a deep-red with attractive white lacing. Aroma is pleasant hop odor with a significant prediction on the citrus flavors to come. Flavor is great - hop heavy, citrusy, the rye delivers big-boy malt flavor, yet Red Rye is well-balanced. I have a hard time finding fault with this beer (it is even a good value for craft beer); I will be drinking this for as long as they’re making it. I can’t think of a beer I’d recommend more highly.

has a kick-ass centennial dry-hopped aroma that really gets up in your face. in fact, i think i have a hops cone stuck in my nostril. very smooth and surprisingly thick malt body, belies the aroma, which would seem to be more proof of dry-hopping. still a strong spicy rye presence, very interesting brew. more balanced than an over-the-top IPA like hop devil or two-hearted. another great founders beer.

Pours reddish amber with a rocky off white head. Aroma is big piney hops. Flavor is lots of hoppy goodness, with a good bit of malts, and a bit of spicy rye,

12oz bottle. Pours cloudy copper in color with foamy tan head. Aroma citrus hops spicy, and caramel. Taste spicy, citrus hops and malty with bitter finish.
