The beer looks great with a huge head (almost too big) it is a pretty shade of red and is pretty cloudy. The aroma is largely floral, and the flavor is very bitter and hoppy. Hops dominate the flavor but the rye seems to provide a good dryness that makes this beer a pleasure to drink. danielcurtis81 (908), San Diego, California, USA

Served on tap at Founders Brewing Company. Appearance is a rich caramelized red. The flavors and aromas have a solid rye malt tone with some earth hops and caramel notes. The mouth is nicely carbonated with s mild bitterness. A very delicious beer. kseecs16 (907), Naperville, Illinois, USA

The aroma is fresh grapefruit, pine, and malt in there somewhere. The flavor is pretty complex and transforming. There is an initial dry malt show followed by a full frontal hop assault accompanied by a rye malt foundation. There is a satisfying underlying sweetness throughout. The palate is lively and crisp. Overall, I could drink a bunch this. We really need to get this brewer to distribute in Minnesota. I guess I can just keep driving to Sconnie. steview (902), Los Angeles, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2009 From the tap a cloudy dark copper-amber, with a nice eggshell ring that leaves lace down the glass. The nose has lots of orange peel, citrus, zest and rye hues surrounding. Nice malty dry flavors, crisp bold backing bitters, a hint of citrus peel/zest, some copper. Great integration with the rye tone, it provides a creamy mouthfeel that mixes with a hint of alcohol astringency and a nice bitter finish (lingering). Very well put together, and a fantastic tap quencher!
