Bottled. Hazy amber/ruby pour with a well-retained beige head and great lacing. Powerfully-hoppy aroma of fresh grapefruit, a hint of pine, and a huge dose of floral... but there was also a caramel base with great spiciness. Centennial hops abound at first sip, followed by a dose of Cascadey grapefruit... with just enough caramel to back it up. Finish was long and full of bittering hops, with flavors of grapefruit and a bunch of spices. This was an excellent treat!

I like rye, and combined with a hopped up beer, you got a bold satisfying beer. Rye, full citrus mouthfeel and some lovely bitter aftertaste

Bottle (12oz). Fssssht! and away we go - Bubbly hazy deep amber with a huge - I mean huge - lasting tiny-bubbled foamy yellow-straw head, a few lace curtains as it slowly settles (4+). (masses of sediment in the bottom, but seems fine to me). Aroma of freshly dried rye grain, toasty sweet caramel malt and plent of floral/resiny hops. Quite a hit of alcohol in the taste, but the malt carries it and the resiny hops jump to the front to carry the rye through to a bitter/balance longish finish. Solid body, with good astringency and tons of carbonation - very, very good and a lovely malty treat for a hot summer’s day.

This American Strong Ale/Rye beer pours a deep amber color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral, pine, some caramel and a hint of pineapple. A medium to full bodied strong ale. Malts are caramel, malt and rye, fruit (pineapple and apples) Hops are piney and grapefruity. Aggressively hopped and spicy. Bitter and fruity. The rye spiciness emerges at the finish. Very nice beer. The rye and hop mix with and match for a very nice flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is bitter.

2008-08-16. Murky caramel brown body, modest creamy beige head. (3+) Nice hoppy aroma, modest resin and a good dose of citrus seeds. (7+) Similar flavour, pithy citrus bitterness, mild resin, light grainy undertones. (7+) Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. (3+) Solid. Bottle, Coles IPA Festival, Buffalo

Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival Saturday July 24, 2004. This draft brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles. The body was transparent softly carbonated and copper-red in color. The aroma was hoppy and contained red mart notes. The mouth feel was tingly with a caramel hop palate and a very hoppy finish. The flavor contained notes of strong hops and a very good mix of rye.

Bottle. Large beige creamy like head that mostly lasted. Cloudy amber color. Good display of lacework. Grapefruit, pine, elderflower, caramel, grain and fruit. Medium bodied with a very dry texture and an average carbonation. Moderated bitter flavor with counter sweet notes. Dry and bitter lingering finish.

Poured beautifully ... deep red with a waterfall cascade of a head that stayed airy and stuck to the glass. The aroma is grand ... like a blooming citrus grove. This is flavorful, yet restrained, with a floral hop burst up front, but a settling fruit salad bitterness to finish.
