A wonderful citrus and melon aroma with some pine and something that reminds me of taken that first deep breath outside on a clear, cool autumn day on the farm. The flavor is a joy-filled romp of fresh green melon and grapefruit. Maybe a little thing but certainly the best of this type of beer I have ever tasted. I must bring home a six of this. ditmier (1089), Boise, Idaho, USA

Really nice reddish color with a tan head and great retention/lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, rye, and some hops. Flavor is like a RyePA, sweet bready, ryey (not a word, I know) malt, honey, spices, and citrusy hops. Really tasty. Medium body with a creamy palate. satan165 (580), River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2009 nose is perfect blend of toffee malt, rye spiciness and strong pine/resin notes. appearance is a 5: ultra cloudy burnt sienna bordering on the namesake ’red’. flavor is one of the most well balanced menu of flavors ive come across in any style. crusty, crunchy toffee arises and is met and toppled by a superman tower of pine hops that bring a floral component as a sidekick. the horseplay between the two continues bottle after bottle. nearly a perfect beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. A nice mellow and airy nose with grainy rye bread, flowery and leafy hops, and some light lemon. This is also a highly attractive beer with a pour of bubbly yet soft beige head, with quality retention and lacing, very cloudy yet not overly thick looking, and crimson red in color as described by founders. I also agree with the description that this beer is well balanced, but even though 4 different caramel malts were used, i dont get a ton of caramel in the flavor, as the sweetness to me is more of a dark berry with multigrain bread malt and a great earthy, floral bitterness that does indeed lead to a spicy crisp finish. Well described by the brewers, this is a very enjoyable and easy to drink to beer. OzarkElmo (119), Poplar Bluff, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 5, 2009 12 oz. into tulip. Pours a deep orange/amber, cloudy with light head mostly diminishing. Aroma of caramel malts, hint of rye - just a bit different nose feel. Okay, the taste - wow it is well balanced then the dry, bitter back-end hits you - I like it - actually by the 5th sip or so I love it! Interesting offering from Founders and deserving of its status - quite a unique and awesome brew. Yes, the rye will smack you on the backside - Cheers! pauliefrog99 (302), FLINT, Michigan, USA
