Cranberries and apricots are scattered around as well, even sticking to the fallen bark around them. Bursting with life.
The Festivities: A step within reveals a cumbersome earth which is going to make the travelling difficult. But the wooden hop bitterness works perfectly with the rye’s dryness, especially due to the surprisingly cushion-y feel. Lemons and grapefruits stick to my soles and will remain long after I’m sure.

Some nice lacing is left on the sides of the glass. Unique aroma of dry hops, mild spices, and some caramel malts that balance it out a bit. The taste is definitely quite hoppy with a profound bitterness, but it suited this beer. Not unpleasant at all. The malted rye is definitely noticeable too, as it has some grainy qualitites about it. Aroma was nice and hoppy with a slight hint of the rye. Flavor was yummy hoppy a tinge of the rye but mainly floral aromatic hops. Palate was nicely bodied well matched with it’s flavors. Dry rye comes in at the back and matches the hops. I almost want to complain that the rye covers up some of the hop flavor, but that’s what a true IPA would be for. This isn’t that beer, and it’s not supposed to be. Probably one of the best uses of rye I’ve found. I want some more bitterness in there, but am somewhat curious if it’s not there, but covered up by the rye. The nice caramel malt of a red ale is there, but gets forgotten amongst everything else. Nice flavors, nice range of flavors, nice craftsmanship. Nice beer.

Fssssht! and away we go - Bubbly hazy deep amber with a huge - I mean huge - lasting tiny-bubbled foamy yellow-straw head, a few lace curtains as it slowly settles (4+). (masses of sediment in the bottom, but seems fine to me). Aroma of freshly dried rye grain, toasty sweet caramel malt and plent of floral/resiny hops. Quite a hit of alcohol in the taste, but the malt carries it and the resiny hops jump to the front to carry the rye through to a bitter/balance longish finish. Solid body, with good astringency and tons of carbonation - very, very good and a lovely malty treat for a hot summer’s day. TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
