Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Pours a slightly hazy golden red color. Little to no head. Sweet malt aroma mixes with a crisp bitter note. Floral hoppy nose becomes sweet malt flavors, finishing with a sharp rye crispness accentuated by some citrusy hop bitterness. Very refreshing for such a high alcohol content.

Pours a slightly cloudy, almost glowing red color with a thick, frothy, fairly well-retined tan head. Some nice lacing is left on the sides of the glass. Unique aroma of dry hops, mild spices, and some caramel malts that balance it out a bit. The taste is definitely quite hoppy with a profound bitterness, but it suited this beer. Not unpleasant at all. The malted rye is definitely noticeable too, as it has some grainy qualitites about it. The finish was long and flavorful as the hop bitterness lingered in the aftertaste. Quality brew.

BPW #52 Served on tap at Founders Brewing Company. Appearance is a rich caramelized red. The flavors and aromas have a solid rye malt tone with some earth hops and caramel notes. The mouth is nicely carbonated with s mild bitterness. A very delicious beer.

16 oz, on tap at Vintage. Pours amber with a 1 cm off-white head. Aroma is a sweeter citrus and a little malt. Initial flavor is a bold maltiness, slight rye and hop notes. Flavor becomes drier at the end. The taste is by far the best part of this red ale. Some lacing, light carbonation, light to medium body, and well hidden alcohol. Drinks well and will continue to consume as long as its on tap.

Bottle thanks to krypitc. Pours a very bright copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is overwhelmingly citrus hops, just loads of fresh grapefruits. Oranges and rye grains a noticed as well. The flavor is similarly dominated by loads of grapefruit hops, the rye does stand out and add a nice spicy fixture. Sweet caramel and light bitter hops finish it out. Very drinkable and tasty. I’m becoming addicted to Rye beer.

12oz bottle. Was this worth sitting in an extra hour of LA traffic to get? Definitely. Dark red-brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, rye, and spicy hops. The flavor has rich and spicy malts with a nice spicy and floral hop balance leading to a medium-bitter finish and some light lingering sweetness. A robust and flavorful ale with complex and interesting flavors. This is just what I needed after a slew of west coast IPAs in the last few days.

bottle. pours a reddish amber with a thin white head that takes its time moving to the edges, where it sticks around, leaving a bit of lacing. pretty big nose with grassy hops mixing with grapefruit and orange notes, and even a bit of floral hops and the occasional suggestion of spices and hint of rye malt. taste is very similar, but with the grassy hops toned down to almost nothing, and with the malt coming out more. finishes quite dry, with big bitterness that lingers and tingles enjoyably, making up for the slightly filmy mouthfeel. lots of carbonation, and the bubbles help with the tongue tingling sensation. quite an enjoyable and interesting beer.
