Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

This is a very unique and drinkable with lots of character in its aroma and flavor. If you like hoppy beers, you are going to love this. Had this at my favorite Thai restaurant and it went with the spicy food and the sushi appetizers perfectly.

A: A beautiful copper red color with a nice one finger head that settles nicely. No lace. S: Hop aromas are a bit more muted on draft than from the bottle. There is still a nice dose of hops though with hints of pine and spicey rye. T: Nice balance of biscuit malt and hops. The hops are mostly pine with hints of spice from the rye. M: Medium in body fairly dry throughout

12 oz. bottle. Pours a brown-red, vermillion, with grayish head. Aroma is hoppy, resiny and floral. A taste reveals the hoppiness is underlied with roast malt, but hops stay on the finish. Spices detectable. Damn good.

Medium hop aroma with some roasted toffee. Reddish brown appearance with creamy head. Flavor of medium hops, pine nuts and oranges. Palate was bubbly. Decent.

12 oz. into tulip. Pours a deep orange/amber, cloudy with light head mostly diminishing. Aroma of caramel malts, hint of rye - just a bit different nose feel. Okay, the taste - wow it is well balanced then the dry, bitter back-end hits you - I like it - actually by the 5th sip or so I love it! Interesting offering from Founders and deserving of its status - quite a unique and awesome brew. Yes, the rye will smack you on the backside - Cheers!

Bottle, poured a slight hazy reddish amber with simmered white sudsy head. Rye on the nose. Hops and malty rye notes with some floral citrus hints. Soft soapy like body with a bit of a dry finish.

Courtesy of strykzone, this poured a cross between amber and orange, with a foamy long lasting white head, and excellent lacing. The nose is caramel malts with some light rye, and some floral hops. . Medium mouthfeel with some good body. Flavor is sweet from the caramel malts, and again the floral hops.. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, soft body, moderate carbonation. Finish is dry and lively.

Pours copper with a fair amount of white head and some lacing. Nice hoppy aroma. Medium bodied. Complex flavor consisting of a good balance of hops and malt, with rye in the aftertaste. This is a pretty unique and a very good beer.

Dark red copper with a thick white head. Really great head retention, it was simply everlasting. Spicy nose backed by caramel malts, full body with lots of caramel on the palate combining with the spiciness of rye and a mild bitterness to wrap all this together. Finishes a little sweet with again some spiciness and a little bready. Pretty nice beer.
