Aroma of caramel malts, hint of rye - just a bit different nose feel. Okay, the taste - wow it is well balanced then the dry, bitter back-end hits you - I like it - actually by the 5th sip or so I love it! Interesting offering from Founders and deserving of its status - quite a unique and awesome brew. Yes, the rye will smack you on the backside - Cheers! TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Dark red copper with a thick white head. Really great head retention, it was simply everlasting. Spicy nose backed by caramel malts, full body with lots of caramel on the palate combining with the spiciness of rye and a mild bitterness to wrap all this together. Finishes a little sweet with again some spiciness and a little bready. Pretty nice beer.
