GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Jun 8, 2009 Updated: Jun 10, 2009Beautiful beer. Clear copper pour with frothy white head. Dense hop aroma. Lots of caramel flavor followed with a dry, resiny hop finish. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jun 6, 2009 Pours reddish amber with a rocky off white head. Aroma is big piney hops. Flavor is lots of hoppy goodness, with a good bit of malts, and a bit of spicy rye, shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jun 5, 2009 pours a bright clear ruby red with a medium offwhite head. tangy. pales malts. floral aroma. some rye. not too bad. Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Jun 4, 2009 A red amber in color the beer with a modest off-white head. Aroma is very resiny with lots of bitterness, some floral notes, a light rye coming through with the caramel sweetness of the malt at the end. Flavor starts off with a strong resiny bitterness, slight grapefruit bite in there as well but the middle is pretty dominate of malt sweet caramel malt and some rye malt with a bitter tongue puckering ending. Overall a solid beer and one I will enjoy again as a consistent beer to pick up. NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jun 4, 2009 Pours reddish amber with a thin of white head. Great aroma that is piney, resiney hops and rye malt. Taste is bitter piney hops, rye maltiness, and some fruity (grapefruit and pineapple?) hop flavor as well. trayns (237), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA Jun 2, 2009 Bottle. The pour is great - very nice deep red amber color, with a large beige head that lasts throughout. The aroma is big, malty, and complex - some piny hops detected too. The taste is pretty solid too. A big malt body followed with a strong strong presence of hops. A very delicious brew. Only thin con would be a slighter lighter palate. Funknmilla (577), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 2, 2009 Pours a rich mahogany with added red highlights with a tan head....rye detected in aroma and flavor....hearty thick malt hold this thing together...a nice hop presence (lemon+grapefruit)...in mouth and nose....balanced perfectly....caraway seed too....so easy to drink, yet complex enough to enjoy slowly.....Ive used this in beer bread and it was excellent!!
