Arayaga2 (932), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2008 Dark coppery in color with minimal white head. Aroma is nicely hopped with more than a hint of caramel popcorn. Very grapefruity taste with the above element of popcorn (which I will assume is the rye). Nicely carbonated with a viscous mouthfeel, and smooth, lingering bitterness. $2/12oz JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 29, 2008 From the NEPA case split club and wow: pine needle, flowers, citrus, bitter rye and some nice bitter oily hops (centennials?). Aroma has some yeast and banana/citrus in addition to the garden bouquet that comes with the flavor. The body has some dryness and delivers some carbonation with the spicy kicks reminding me of needles on a pine tree. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 Draft Pours copper in color with a small white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, caramel, pine and a touch of rye. Flavor has a good balanced between malty sweetness and hop bitterness with caramel malts, pine, citrus, grapefruit and notes of rye. Medium body with a dry and bitter finish. Decent brew jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Jun 22, 2008 Straight out of the tap into a regular pint glass, this brew poured deep, dark , cloudy red with a thick foam that stayed around through the whole drink. It smelled very floral and hoppy. It had a heavy body and tasted wonderfully of hops and some cirtus hints. It finished hoppy but barely bitter and would very drinkable. I really enjoyed this one and will have it again. tarc (47), New Jersey, USA Jun 21, 2008 Teh Our is a beautiful red, inviting. The Aroma of the hops comes through to the taste. Strong hops. Actually, this grew on me more in the second half of my glass. Good but not great... BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle acquired via polomagnifico...Ryan is an amazing trader!!! This one is a nice crimson colored haze with an small eggshell head. Taste is sweet roasted malt followed by a tart hop bitterness that lingers on the palate. Interesting spiciness...definitely taste the influence of the rye, although it isn’t as dominant as in the Founder’s Black Rye recipe. Tasty but not earth-shattering like some by this brewer. TheElder (49), DeSoto, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2008 This was a very interesting beer. I had a tough time telling myself that I was drinking a beer and not eating a grapefruit. The smell and taste both reeked of it. That is not a bad thing though. The aftertaste was even bitter and tart. It was refreshing as ’all get out’. Got to love the hops. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2008 Deep, aromatic with hops galore...smells like wet, sticky hops. A field of fresh hops practically dropping off the vine. A bouquet of wildflowers with hop vines intertwined, handcrafted by me- for my girlfriend. Clear yet deep and mystique copper colour.
Above view of the brew looks like a view from space showing a hurricane in process. Thin beige rim of foam that follows the brew to the bottom. "Take it to the end!" :) Rich mouthfeel with a hearty hop flavor. Like eating a steak. I don’t eat steak anymore but when i did, it was like this beer. A giant steak shaped pile of hops. Flavors absolutely tastey- full grapefruit citrus hop flavor. This brew inspired me, its well crafted, well balanced body was appealing in every way and a real treat.
