Apr 5, 2008 Draft at Theresa’s in Wayne,Pa. Nice red/dark copper color with a rocky 2 finger head. Well poured as everything here is including the 2 cask beers(not easy if you’ve never done it). Like Monk’s, these girls know their beer. My young waitress said she loved this beer and wondered why it took so long to get it.This beer looks great and the nose is even better. I smelled a perfect hop aroma that I have not experienced since I had Victory Hop Devil on cask for the 1st time. This was perfect. All that flowering hop aroma with an awesome appearance.The 1st taste was better than I expected since my anticipation from my sense of smell and sight of this marvel was most likely yet another disappointment. This surpassed in taste what I thought was going to be a great beer. It was the best beer I ever had. Wow! I have no perfect scores here in my little file of reviews, but then again, the day I taste the perfect beer, what is the point of going on? Pursuit is the best part of the game. My favorite beer before this was Youngs SLA and I considered that the perfect harmony of all things beer. F**K styles and guidelines, it is what tastes good to you. I have a new perfectly harmonic new favorite. By the way, the abv (6.8)is not even remotely present in any way. Enjoy this folks, it is a gem.

Apr 4, 2008 Easy to like. Rich clear deep reddish gold with a small head, leaves good lacing. Taste of sweet malts, sour mash, floral hops, American PAcific North West pine and citrus hops, caramel, and a nice hoppy bitter finish. Balanced and easy to drink.

Apr 4, 2008 Cloudy brownish-red with a thick, foamy tan head. Light aroma of malt and hops. Taste starts sweet and malty then gets bigger and more bitter as the hops and rye hit. Nice lingering bitterness. Different and interesting.

Mar 31, 2008 pours a cloudy dark red with a nice two finger fluffy tan head. aroma is malt, hops, and subtle rye with grapefruit, orange peel, and pine. has a medium body with descent lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but stronger and with a little caramel to the malt. has a descent dry hop aftertaste and the hops and rye sit on the tongue for a while. very nice. it is also a touch sticky on the lips. it also has a little pepper in the aftertaste.

Mar 28, 2008 At Three Cellars tasting Founder’s Brewery night. Clear amber with a medium white head. Notes of heavy rye and pine in the aroma. Rye in the taste, dry hoppy finish, light astringent qualities.

Mar 21, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, reddish body with a small, white head.
Smell: Caramel malt nose marked by a distinct rye component and full hop notes of grapefruit.
Taste: Pleasing caramel maltiness with a very mild sweetness interrupted by a sharp, spicy rye jolt and held in its track by a firm bitterness and flavors of grapefruit pith. Spicy, raspy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: It’s all kinds of okay! I’d go for another, really I would.
