agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 21, 2007 12 oz. bottle at Flat Rock Saloon. Poured deep red with very thin head. Terrific malt and hop combination. Flavor similar to a solid strong ale. Very tasty, good offering. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2007 Updated: Jul 12, 2007Reddish-dark amber and cloudy color wiht a medium head. Aroma is sweet & hoppy - bread, honey, and citrus-floral hops detectable. Flavor is well balanced between rye and sweet, bready malts and some nice citrusy hop tastes. Smooth and refreshing with a nice hop blast. Reminds me of a good English IPA or a sweet ASA. Good brew. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Apr 18, 2007 Pours a reddish copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is of citrus and pine hops with caramel, spices, and sweet malts. Taste starts off with the citrus and pine hops that give way to the sweeter malts and caramel. Finishes with some spices with the flavors lingering for awhile. Wasn’t sure what to expect with this brew because it was my first rye but I was pretty impressed. punkrkr27 (606), Berkley, Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2007 Pours a bright reddish copper with a nice dense off-white head. Strong citrus/pine hop aroma with a healthy touch of rye and caramel malt. Flavor has lots of pine and citrus, biscuit and caramel maltiness, a touch of dark fruit, a bit floral, and a dry bitter finish. Kind of tastes like a heavily American hopped ESB. Medium to full body that has a nice creamy texture to it. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Apr 15, 2007 Bottle. Clear ruby/copper color with a medium head. Low retention. Aroma is pine and citrus hops with balancing caramel. Taste was spicy and flowery, raspberry cobbler, caramel and biscuit sweetness. Crisp with a dry finish. A great beer. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 15, 2007 bottle...rating from memory... appearance: dark orange and red with tannish head....aroma: light on the hops and not too assertive.... taste: starts out with some mild, bitter hops then makes way for some of the malts to make their way into the mix. in the end, it’s rye and dry.....decent beer and another nice offering from frounders. lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA Apr 12, 2007 One of the nicest looking beers I’ve ever had... deep, dark red body with a frothy reddish tan head. Lightly floral hop aroma and some sweet caramel malts. Flavor starts out with a strong hop character. Rye comes out in the finish and blends nicely with the crisp hop bitterness. aarossell (151), Grandville, Michigan, USA Apr 11, 2007 One of my favorites for sure. A different kind of beer taste than most, and completely delicious. Deep orange-red amber colors, creamy but light, very refreshing, very little bitterness but the hops contribute lots of flavor. Complex floral hops, especially in the immediate aroma (comparing to others on table), but just very good.
