Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 8, 2007 A lightly hazed reddish amber ale with an extra thick light moka head. Gushed on my basement carpet. A pleasant grassy aroma with light Brett notes, sweet caramel malts and herbaceous hops. In mouth, a cooked caramel malt, with strong hopping, more herbal than grapefruits, cereals, and light medicinal notes (explaining the gushing). Medium bodied. Looses points for the loss of 1/4 of the bottle on the carpet. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 4, 2007 bottle - Pours ruby with a big, dense head and some yeast floaters. In time, ample lacing coats the glass. The pleasant aroma smells of hops and rye. The flavor is moderate citrus hops like a good pale ale and it’s supported by well balanced rye. Medium bodied and easy to drink, a crisp finish helps make this beer very quaffable. Nicely done. TheKegergator (241), California, USA Feb 3, 2007
Again, thanks to Nucular George for this one.
Pours a nice orange color with a hint o red in it. Nice sized foam head that lasted a while. Smell is very good, malty with something else that I can’t pt my finger on, Very good none the less. This makes the third rye that i have tried, and maybe the best. These are fast becoming a beer high I my list of ones to sample. Very solid flavor, with a hint of hops. Could really put these down easily.
Thanks again NG :banned:
millstadtguy (50), Millstadt, Illinois, USA Jan 28, 2007 Deep red color with a decent head. Aroma of citrus, grass & pine. Flavor is hop dominant but with a good malt/rye flavor to balance. Hops are clean and balanced without being offensive. Will have again. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 17, 2007 Bottle from Puddintane. Hazy dark amber in color with no head. Maily bitter hop flavors throughout. Malty and bitter finish. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 16, 2007 12oz Bottle @ Coles Buffalo, NY. Deep red color with Sweet malty flavor with a nice hop backbone. Very good. Would love to try on tap. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 15, 2007 Pours a copper red, with a good two inches of tan sudsy foam. Very good head retention and moderate lacing. Dry tangy aroma.
Ballsy citrus hops, dry rye. Nice combination. A hint of caramel and lots of pithy grapefruit in the finish. Dry rye and grapefruit and sweeter apricot linger in the aftertaste. Medium body, very nice level of carbonation.
ChazMania (408), Pasadena, California, USA Jan 8, 2007 Bottled. Holy moly this is tasty. There are many flavors going on ....it tastes like a hopped up red. There is some malty carmel overtones and a very balanced hop finish. This single bottle along with a Black Rye (trying next) were given to me from guy at a hi-end local beer shop.
