buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Sep 13, 2006 Updated: Jan 17, 2007Holy crap is this ever good. Pours a brilliant blue color........Just kidding. Pours a clean medium red (of course). I did not expect all of the hops in the aroma and flavor. That made it even better. I would label this as an Imperial IPA. An almost perfect mix of malt and hops. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Sep 7, 2006 Draught@Redbones, Boston. Some light fruity malt characters to start (berry fruit?), lightly caramelly and sweet. Then the aromatic hops kick in at the end just to remind you that you’re in the US, in fact there is quite a lot of aromatic, slightly piney, citrusy hops. this was quite nice. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2006 Poured a lightly hazy, amber red color with a large off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of light pine, caramel malts, floral hops, and citrus fruits as well. Taste of light caramel, toffee malts, some pine, citrus, tropical fruits, and a dry, rye finish. Faint alcohol and a full mouthfeel. Really hoppy, nice. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 6, 2006 Updated: Dec 19, 2008Dry, very hopped with lot’s more toffee, pine, spicy, citric, Rhy, oat... Swing! kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Aug 26, 2006 12 oz bottle via trade with Ohiodad (thanks Scott!). Pours a semi hazy reddish orange color. Average size beige head. Leaves lots of lace. Aroma of lemon, grapefruit, caramel and rye. Taste like is smells with some added grass flavor, with an interesting semi-hoppy lemony chalky finish and a dry rye aftertaste. Can’t say i care for the chalkiness or the rye in the finish. Starts out very nice upfront, but ends up a bit rough. I think this is likely something people will either really like or dislike...or an aquired taste. Will try this again sometime. Maybe not for my first beer of the day. Gets an extra point for having some a cool label!*****ok, 15 minutes later, i will just say this is much much better as it warms. Let is set at LEAST 10 minutes after removing from the fridge before partaking! porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Aug 23, 2006 (Bottle from Julio’s Liquors) Pours deep burnt amber with about 1/4" of creamy biege head that stays. Aroma strongly hoppy - mostly pine, some flowers. Mouthfeel smooth, full, a touch prickly. Flavor is very hoppy - pine plus a bit of flowers and fruit. Finishes bitter. Flavor is very much like a big IPA, maybe a little less sharp. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2006 Thanks to The Epeeist. Hazy brown/amber topped by a huge, dense, frothy tan head. Huge hop nose of pine, venom, resin, spice with an underlying sweetness. Flavor adds a generous amount of sweet caramel and a nice rye presence in the finish. Full body, smooth. Rich, yet easy, drinking. ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Aug 8, 2006 On tap at Anam Cara. Slightly hazy amber red. Aroma is piney and citrus hops. Taste is pretty big on hops with semi-sweet malts evening it out. Floral with a little fruit. Good stuff.
