sfontain (500), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 14, 2005 Small sample from 12 oz. bottle at From the Vine beer tasting in Lewis Center, Ohio. Reddish orange; small, off-white head. Aroma citrus and hops. Flavor similar. Medium body, very slight stickiness. Too hoppy for my tastes.
FunkyBrewster (143), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours a deep cloudy amber brown color with an off-white frothy head. Aroma is very sweet and hoppy, with some strong citrus and pineapple notes. Flavor starts out sweet and malty with a lot of the pineapple and citrus coming through. It quickly gets bittered by the strong piney hops that appear and all but consume the sweetness. The hops ride through the finish and leave a pleasant bittersweet aftertaste. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Really good rye beer and ipa. timsilvia32 (244), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Oct 2, 2008 Red amber pour, cream colored head. Aroma has some grainy cereal, lemongrass, sweet malt. Rather crisp with flavors similar to what the nose suggests. All present in good balance. Some caramel covered light red fruits. Very clean finishing, very good. Would really like to try the Black. WakeandBake (85), Greenville, Michigan, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle.Pours hazy amber with a descent off-white creamy head. Aroma of fresh citrusy hops mingled with matly sweetness and a just a hint of grain. The flavor is awesome, first you taste fresh hops, some citrus, some floral, and then you get some of the malt sweetness, the flavors deepen as it warms, nice full mouthfeel, with a dry finish.
