Commercial Description:
As promised Founders Brewing Company has created something unlike the rest. Amongst this summers over crowded race to cloudy wheat beers we have decided to embark down a path all to our own. By using only fresh raspberries Rubaeus translates into intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. At 7% ABV this is definitely beer. In fermentation we add fresh raspberries at five separate stages throughout the fermentation life cycle to achieve the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness. This beer is a tribute to Founders way of brewing…. Brewing Beer We Want To Drink

I was not very impressed with this. It pours a hazy dark red with little head. It actually kinda tastes like a wine cooler. My mother actually thought it was! I guess it would be good as a glorified chick beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a red, almost pink color with minimal fizzy white head. Aroma has some malt and sugar, but it is mostly raspberries. Taste is slightly bitter raspberries with some malt backing it. There isn’t much more to this beer than the raspberries. Very watery, but goes down easy. Pretty much a juice that gets you juiced. Enjoyable.

Thanks to fantomas23 for the bottle!
Transparent pink/strawberry red, small white head. Nose is only slightly fruity, some malt present, a little bitterness, very lager-like. Flavor is far sweeter and more syrup fruit. Palate is quite watery and clean, very short. Overall not bad, but I would believe it if they told me they put some fruit syrup on top of a pale lager.

12 oz bottle w/twist off cap. Pours transparent reddish with no head. Little carbonation. Does have a raspberry initial hit but not a ’clean’ raspberry flavor. However, it is not artificial like so many fruit beers. Very good, but could be a bit sweeter. Finish is not offensive nor lingering for a fruit beer. Almost has a cider characteristic about it but does not vacate the fact that it is a beer.

In short: Tasty raspberry juice with bubbles. Ok.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed fresh a week after receiving from JCB. Thanks a lot Jason
The look: Clear red body topped by a short-lived picky head
In long: Nose of fresh raspberries. Taste unfortunately feels half commercial raspberry juice and half fresh raspberries. No malt character, subdued hops (if any), light almost watery body. Rather tasty. There isn’t really much to say about this carbonated raspberry juice. Raspberries and more raspberries. Fortunately its low-medium sweetness level prevents it from feeling like one of those commercial coolers. A good beer but this really ain’t a New Glarus Raspberry Tart, but fortunately this also really ain’t a Barbara Streisand album.

poured cranberry color with a slight pink head aroma is sugar raspberry taste is like a carbonated white zinfendel - nice flavor if you like raspberry. I enjoyed it but won’t seek it out. Will enjoy some with company over the holidays
