Sampled draft at the brewpub (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a near pitchblack pour, offwhite nitro head that is thick and inviting, creamy looking. Aromas are vague creamy sweetness, touch of vanilla and chocolate, roast. Initial is stronger than anticipated, pushing chocolate, coffee, a light booziness, with light vanilla and caramel, and some light roast. However, the strength of this brew is it’s silky smoothness yet high ABV. Goes down dangerously easy. Not the most flavorful, as the nitro humps it into submission. Still, very interesting.

nitro at founders...black ipa aged in maple barrels..essentialy the aging killed off the hops..black with basic nitro head..sweet aroma with light hops and alcohol..flavor is pretty similar with added hints of caramel and chocolate..good but overly expensive

On nitro at founders. Dark black, opaque with large beige nitro head. Spicey, sweet aroma with vanilla, with cookie dough, some alc, complex. Flavor is sweet vanilla, maple, bourbon, dirty, a little green hops surprisingly, slight alc, nice, but a little unbalanced. Medium creamy, nitro body. Very interesting all around.

On tap at Founders. Pours a very very dark brown. With a large brown/tan head. I had this on nitro. Taste a light bit of hops in this one, but it is mostly sweet and chocolaty with a caramel flavor and a mild alcohol finish.

On tap at Founders. Pours a dark leathery color with a bit of a thin head and a nose of brown sugar and grapefrut or some kind of citrus. Flavor has a nice edge to it, but a bit of an alcohol.edge to it.
