SHANER4 (211), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 24, 2007 Updated: Jan 21, 2008I travel to Fountain City once a summer with my girlfriend for her family reunion.
The best thing about the whole trip is the great beer they serve at The Monarch. It’s hard to describe how good this beer is. Great aroma and taste.I have only had it on tap and it is excellent. I am not sure I am rating the correct brew because they had summer ale sticker on tapper with Fountain Brew. Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Apr 30, 2007 Stopped at the Monarch Tavern in Fountain City during Wisconsin Trip #3. The tavern has this beer both on tap and in 12-oz bottles. Pours a clear golden amber with a white head that dissolves fast and leaves behind a fine white film coating. Very good lacing on glass side. Aroma is sweet, light malt with a touch of sweet corn. Good balance of malt and hops. Taste has a medium body with a smooth carbonation. Thought this is listed as a "Premium Lager" category, this is more of an American Lager. This is one of the better American Lagers I’ve tried. Note of interest, this beer will be brewed by Viking Brewing in Dallas soon. Anxious to try the Viking version. BDR (1903), Roseville, Minnesota, USA May 1, 2007 On tap at the Monarch Tavern during a brew tour with Skyview. A pale amber with quickly dissapating white head. Faint corn and malt aroma with a nice corn flavor. Phenomenal for a lager. Emil (6077), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 21, 2007 Bottle. A amber beer with a white head. Light caramel malt, hop aroma and a light sweet caramel malt, floral hop taste. Medium body with a light dry finish. 1FastSTi (2402), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jan 6, 2008 Thanks Skyview. The beer pours to a thin pale amber body with a thin white head. The aroma is cascade hops. The flavor is extremely toasty with cascade hops. Average palate with a medium light body. I thought it was decent.
