The best thing about the whole trip is the great beer they serve at The Monarch. It’s hard to describe how good this beer is. Great aroma and taste.I have only had it on tap and it is excellent. I am not sure I am rating the correct brew because they had summer ale sticker on tapper with Fountain Brew. Skyview (4104), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2007 Stopped at the Monarch Tavern in Fountain City during Wisconsin Trip #3. The tavern has this beer both on tap and in 12-oz bottles. Pours a clear golden amber with a white head that dissolves fast and leaves behind a fine white film coating. Very good lacing on glass side. Aroma is sweet, light malt with a touch of sweet corn. Good balance of malt and hops. Taste has a medium body with a smooth carbonation. Thought this is listed as a "Premium Lager" category, this is more of an American Lager. This is one of the better American Lagers I’ve tried. Note of interest, this beer will be brewed by Viking Brewing in Dallas soon. Anxious to try the Viking version. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

A pale amber with quickly dissapating white head. Faint corn and malt aroma with a nice corn flavor. Phenomenal for a lager. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Thanks Skyview. The beer pours to a thin pale amber body with a thin white head. The aroma is cascade hops. The flavor is extremely toasty with cascade hops. Average palate with a medium light body. I thought it was decent. SledgeJr (3003), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 28, 2005 In the bottle from the Monarch Tavern. Pours a rich golden color of straw. Head was enormous and pillowy upon first pour, but rapidly settled to a thin white coating that lingers with the beer. Delightful mild fragrance of fresh mown hay. Great balance between hoppy mid bitterness and malt coating. Medium body and carbonation. If this is indeed what average beer tasted like in the pre-prohibition days, then fire up my Way-Back Machine, Mr. Peabody! JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2008 Amber color with a somewhat fluffy off-white head.Mild grainy aromas with hints of fresh cut flowers and mild corn. Flavors of light caramel, mild toasted malt, bits of grain and corn and a backdrop of light fruit. Dry malt finish with only a hit of bitterness. Nice historical brew. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2007 Interesting story and sense that it might be a different kind of beer than commonly found. Rich golden color, average head. Subtle grape and cat litter flavor. Dry, with a nice hop touch. Overall, more subtle than many standard lagers today. Interesting.
