Commercial Description:
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

Draft. Pours a pale yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of hops, and a little malt. Hop flavor comes through nicely in this one, and it’s a good refreshing sipper, but pales in comparison with some of the hop monsters out there nowdays. Still, I enjoyed this one. Re Rate from Bottle: Fresh bottle picked up from brewery. Pours a transparent yellow with a nice soapy white head. Aroma of fresh hops, malt, citrus,. Flavor is fresh hops, citrus, with a nice bitter yet balanced finish. Awesome IPA, I hope they start selling bottles into their distribution network at some point because this is a winner.

Draft, sampled many a time, many a year at the Four Peaks Brew Pub. I used to think it was an excellent IPA, now I find it to be barely an above average IPA. Easily their best and the best brew out of the Phoenix/Tempe area, but the level of a very good IPA has been raised. Yes, it could be hoppier, has a mellow fruity flavor and a mild kick.

Draught. Marks for Appearance are an average, as beer was sampled in weak artificial light after dark. Very light citrussy-fruity nose, light vanilla. Restrained hopflavour, rather neutral, non-sweet malts, little touch of some (sweeter) spirit. Medium bodied, light creamy texture. Another good IPA, with a rather restrained hopcharacter.

This one is distinctly for IPA lovers. This beer focuses most of its hops on aroma. The rest are all for flavoring, very little bitter after taste.

Four Peaks is definitely a cut above the rest here in AZ...although when comparisons are done verses the US/International competition, there are significant room for improvements. Love Kiltlifter, like 8th Street, and did enjoy this one. All of the expected flavor combinations are there; just not in excess as seen in other beers I’ve had. Call me a Extreme Beer Junkie, this one didn’t live up to it.

Altogether an excellent IPA. Can taste woody flavors with hoppy piney resiney flavors. Very dank, like I like it.

On tap at D-Lux burger in PXH. Pours a light golden color with no head by the time it got to my table....This beer was HOPPY! Almost too much. It didn’t have the complexity in flavors I was hoping for, just a over abundance of hops....It smelled and tasted like pot...but didn’t get me high...
