Not bad for the style. Medium body with all the typical flavors (light on smoke). I’d drink it again.

Bottle thanks to hellbilly: Pours an amber color with 1 finger white head. Aroma is very malty and has notes of vinous dark fruits. Flavor is primarily malty with lots of carmel and toffee notes with a medium body. You can also detect some of those dark fruits as well. Definitely some raisan and prune notes. No detectable hops or bitterness but finishes without too much sweetness. Very much to style.

Thanks to maniac for this one. Medium copper appearance, slight head faded rapidly to nothing, a hair fizzy. Lightly smoky and caramel aroma, nice. The smoke unfortunately didn’t translate at all to the tongue. The end result was a light bodied brew with faint caramel malts and a bit of drying hops on the finish that didn’t really provide any more flavor. Sessionable, but I would have liked more body.

Unique deep, leathery brown with long-lasting medium coarse head. Gentle aroma of toffee, light milk chocolate and toast with a bit of roastiness. Warm, malty body with caramel, light bitterness, great balance.

Draught. Golden amber, thin head. Average aroma. Distinctly macro flavor. Too clean and crisp and lager like for my personal taste. Grainy, hay flavors.

From a 12oz Bottle. Obtained in a trade with footy 4/2007. Pours a transparent amber color with some pale caramel tones and a large layer of soapy off-white, quickly dissipating head. Aroma of lightly smokey grains with a thick toffee character. Perhaps a touch of diacetyl, but it doesn’t seem out of place. Light to medium bodied, creamy carbonated mouthfeel. Relatively sweet, lightly caramelized malt flavors with a hint of smoke that’s full of grainy characters and not meat-like. Lots of toffee and grain dextrins, but not sugary sweet. A mild hop bitterness lingers in the finish, but doesn’t reveal any sort of herbalness until a few seconds into the final smack, where it rests with a bit stronger smoke wave. Simple, yet satisfying. Thanks, Rudy!
