Rich malt, plum, dusty malt, faint alcohol. Flavor has some plum, dark brown sugar, light roasty finish. Great body.

I guess I’m biased because they brew this stuff down the street. It’s much better on tap, and if you live in AZ it’s almost impossible to go to a bar and not see Kiltlifter on tap. Sweet, malty, and I’ve seen "smokey" used in some of the ratings and since that’s as close as I can pin point it we’ll go with that. Great for those nights you feel like getting laced by something that tastes decent.

Bottle. Moderate brown with a thin pale head. Little nose. Caramel with no smokiness or the oompf needed for this style.

Bottle. Nice roasted malt aroma to go along with some light orange zest. Color is amber with a medium sized head. Flavor is mostly caramel based with some smokey notes. Smooth and on the sweet side.

Copper. Moderately aromatic, with scents of herbs, grass, smoke and toasted malts. Flavor is very similar to the aroma with an added hint of caramel, toffee, wood, smoke and vanilla. Toasted malts are very evident. Very sweet for the style. Very light in nody. Mediocre.

Appearance: a clear, deep amber hue, and an impressively thick, full, creamy head. Aroma: much on the mild side, and shy to offer itself up, but we do perceive bits of nuts, toffee, cocoa, soft spices, herbs. On the palate, a nice malty-sweet flavor at first. Body is medium, texture is good, hops are very light, if attending this function at all. There’s a slight smokey feel, if I’m not imagining it, with lush taste of caramel and such behind. Body feels too thin, though, and those promising flavors soon fade out. Easy to drink, but not much to admire, I’m sorry.
