The aroma was very malty and lightly spicy. The flavor was lots of malt, light spice, smoke and sugar. The mouthfeel was thin. The finish lingered with a bit of sugar and smoke. Scottish Ale Light. Initial taste of earthiness/resin with sharp apples. Carbonation is above average with lots of micro bubbles on the mouthfeel. Mid to finish is ok, but very one dimensional. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 4, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of Sparky27. Pour is clear copper golden with a nice, lasting 2 inch off white head. Pretty streaky lacing. Aroma of dirty toasted maltiness, some mild fruit sweetness, a bit of burnt peat. Taste is harsh immediately, dirty peat maltiness, mixed in with acidic artificial sweetener. Pretty abrasive stuff. Palate is medium, a bit cloying and far more alcohol is present than there should be. Thanks for sending this Eric. buckyp (32), Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 27, 2009 Draft at Hilton Garden Inn in Phoenix. Just an okay ale. Maltiness (no hops anywhere) is all I get. Could have been too cold but I didn’t get any level of complexity and all taste dissipates quickly.
