Commercial Description:
Our Oatmeal Stout is definitely a local favorite but it gets its origins from one of London's oldest breweries. The Oatmeal Stout differs from the popular Irish stout in its more subtle roastiness and subdued dryness. The addition of flaked oats rounds out these sometimes harsh characteristics producing a velvet smooth ale. This black stout has a flavor profile unique to all of North America. Subtlety is not a strong point as it is a stout after all, rich and eminently drinkable.

I was very hard on this beer the first time around. Either they changed the recipe or my taste is developing. While not life-changing, this is a very smooth, creamy and noticeably sweet stout. It really reminds me of a milk stout. Sweet cream comes through followed by milk chocolate. No coffee to speak of. A very fine dessert beer, actually.

Draft - big, roasty nose. Typical appearance. Unbelievably creamy mouthfeel. Big roasted coffee flavor. This is a standout!

Draft at brewery. Pours black with tan head, creamy and nitro looking with sheets of lace. Very little aroma, lightly roasty and malty. Flavor is more of the same. Thin on the palate but slightly creamy. Finish is dry, with lingering cocoa bitterness and some hints of coffee. Pretty good stout.

On tap. A decent stout that I would go for again. Just missing some of the character of other stouts.

Looks and smells great but finishes a little weak and watery. The head dissipates long before your half done your pint and that shouldn’t happen with an Oatmeal Stout.

on tap at Four Peaks - Pours a black color with a good size, fluffy, light tan head that lasts. Nice lacing. Nice roasted chocolate aroma. Has a nice roasted coffee and chocolate flavor. This beer is a little dry but so creamy smooth. Medium body. An excellent beer.
