Commercial Description:
Our Oatmeal Stout is definitely a local favorite but it gets its origins from one of London's oldest breweries. The Oatmeal Stout differs from the popular Irish stout in its more subtle roastiness and subdued dryness. The addition of flaked oats rounds out these sometimes harsh characteristics producing a velvet smooth ale. This black stout has a flavor profile unique to all of North America. Subtlety is not a strong point as it is a stout after all, rich and eminently drinkable.

Roasted malt/coffee/chocolate nose w. hints of cherry. Very chocolatey at first then bitter coffee, grape skin, creamy chocolate finish w. just a hint of hops.

Once again, don’t really dig the stouts, but had to try it. Pretty good. All of your average stout characteristics. Not really wanting to run back to the brewpub and grab another, but I might grab another if I were there.

Nourishing stout, dryer than expected and more bitter than I would have anticipated from an oatmeal stout. hey, I’m not complaining.........

Another solid Four Peaks beer. Nothing fancy, but nothing really wrong either. Not much aroma, a little roasted grain and mild esters. Very dark mohagany color, creamy tan head. Flavor is a sweet blend chocolate, molasses, caramel, and coffee grounds. Very thick and full bodied, much chewier than I remember. Very decent oatmeal stout, plenty of flavor and more than enough body.

Wow!! One of the darkest beers I have ever seen. Usually when an oatmeal stout is held up to the light you can see highlights (red/brown) around the edges. If there were any highlights on this beer they were paper-thin. Great. Draft, Tempe F.P. On Nitro. Poured black as space with a medium creamy nitro head (excellent). Aroma was great, sweet, burn malt, slight smoke, and dark (very soothing). The stout was creamy and very inviting on the tounge. Body ranged from feeling thin to very heavy and thick. Flavors include sweet dark malt, oak, mild smoke, earth, yeast, and a very nice mild bitterness for a perfect finish. Very impressive, I liked that it did not taste just like thick creamy coffee, it was much more deep in flavors. Maybe a new favorite!!

Dark red-black body with creamy tan head. Aroma is soft and roasty malty. Taste is very flavorful -- solid roasty throughout, medium sweetness, very creamy. Simple, but very good for what it is.
