Commercial Description:
Our Oatmeal Stout is definitely a local favorite but it gets its origins from one of London's oldest breweries. The Oatmeal Stout differs from the popular Irish stout in its more subtle roastiness and subdued dryness. The addition of flaked oats rounds out these sometimes harsh characteristics producing a velvet smooth ale. This black stout has a flavor profile unique to all of North America. Subtlety is not a strong point as it is a stout after all, rich and eminently drinkable.

Black color; creamy head (possibly some carbo-nitro in the pump?). Light roasted malt and cardboard aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, chocolate and roasted malt flavor, correct bitterness. Nothing special.

Dark red-black body with creamy tan head. Aroma is soft and roasty malty. Taste is very flavorful -- solid roasty throughout, medium sweetness, very creamy. Simple, but very good for what it is.

On tap @ Four Peaks poured a clear dark brownish black with a lasting brown head. Aromas of smoke, roasted malt, vanilla and mocha. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, smoke, vanilla and bitter chocolate with a lingering bittersweet finish.

Quite a good stout. Dark, rich and roasted malt flavors, good hop spicyness. Very smooth and creamy, Guinness to strong for you, try this one.
