Commercial Description:
Our Oatmeal Stout is definitely a local favorite but it gets its origins from one of London's oldest breweries. The Oatmeal Stout differs from the popular Irish stout in its more subtle roastiness and subdued dryness. The addition of flaked oats rounds out these sometimes harsh characteristics producing a velvet smooth ale. This black stout has a flavor profile unique to all of North America. Subtlety is not a strong point as it is a stout after all, rich and eminently drinkable.

Quite a good stout. Dark, rich and roasted malt flavors, good hop spicyness. Very smooth and creamy, Guinness to strong for you, try this one.

Pours midnight black with a velvety single-finger head. Aroma is of mostly roast and sweet malt with a very nice underlying oatmeal sweetness. Taste encompasses the full spectrum of coffee, chocolate, oatmeal, and roast all in velvet goodness. Far better than any of the dozen other oatmeal stouts that I have had.

Wow!! One of the darkest beers I have ever seen. Usually when an oatmeal stout is held up to the light you can see highlights (red/brown) around the edges. If there were any highlights on this beer they were paper-thin. Great. Draft, Tempe F.P. On Nitro. Poured black as space with a medium creamy nitro head (excellent). Aroma was great, sweet, burn malt, slight smoke, and dark (very soothing). The stout was creamy and very inviting on the tounge. Body ranged from feeling thin to very heavy and thick. Flavors include sweet dark malt, oak, mild smoke, earth, yeast, and a very nice mild bitterness for a perfect finish. Very impressive, I liked that it did not taste just like thick creamy coffee, it was much more deep in flavors. Maybe a new favorite!!

Draft - big, roasty nose. Typical appearance. Unbelievably creamy mouthfeel. Big roasted coffee flavor. This is a standout!
